11-03-14, 22:08 GMT+10#21 The way my internet loaded the first thing I saw was the third photo up in that post, my heart sank till I looked at the plates and realised it didn't happen right after a resto (Thought it was the Berlina for that split second), still a very sad sight to see either way though. After 20 years I can't imagine how attached you'd of been to that car, I've had mine almost 2 years and I love it more than a lot of people that's for sure. Hope your Dad came out of it okay.
Also the Berlina is looking great mate, nice to see you on CT. Us White over MX Berlinas gotta stick together

11-03-14, 22:40 GMT+10#22 great work champ,
restoring is the best part as each and every step you do, you see the difference you should be proud, you have done a great job.
i have also got a full set of the 12 piece bumper set ( aftermarket ) and ill be painting mine soon, ive compared it to the original and find that its still needs prep work and sanding for a smoother finish. but the original ones are all warped from sun damage. so new is still better as they are more straight. i don't see why people judge them .... ?
4 hours + just fitting the front bar and top moulds on mine to sit flush. but worth every minute.

Absolutely, sound like you bought the same bars as me. I got them from kingswood country on eBay. Took me 4 hours as well to line everything up. But, i painted them satin mx grey first. Just like they were originally from factory.
It did need a few minor tweaks here and there. Just watch out for the rear bar. Was a bit of a pain to line up. And the berlina red and silver stripes just polish it off as well!

Had to come over and show her off. Haha definately stick together man, we'll show them how it's done . Sorry for the scare. If anything i didn't mean it lol.
That car was like a brother. Throughout anything it was always there ready to go. It has been the most reliable car we've ever owned as well. Only 1 thing ever went wrong with it and was that it cracked a few spark plugs from running 91 octane.

13-03-14, 00:13 GMT+10#24 yeah i guess the rear, it seams to sit nice and close on the bumper were that steel trim goes on the rear arch tip. but as you start to come to the corner section of the tail light it creeps up by a good 10mm+ ( between the top trim and bumper )
i dont know if its just my car or are they all like that i would like drill out the mounting spots a little and see if i can tilt the rear bar up or maybe drop the top trim down a little.
is yours like that too?

13-03-14, 09:22 GMT+10#25 I adjusted the metal brackets to force it up. Took ages to get it even remotely close. BUT, my old vl sat the same as yours and they were genuine bars.

22-03-14, 22:41 GMT+10#26 Very unhappy that the vl has been reversed into and a note wasn't left. I know, same song and dance but man it pisses me off when you put the hard yards into a car and someone messes it up and doesnt even have the courtesy to leave a note and apoligise.
Can't have nice things
To make matters worse i have no idea when it happened.

23-03-14, 00:24 GMT+10#27 My car had perfectly straight doors/panels when I bought it and now each side has 2-3 (small but noticeable to me) door dings in them. Never had anyone apologise. People suck don't they!

23-03-14, 10:26 GMT+10#28 It's probably because they believe we would belt the living s#@t out of them when we found out. If the person left a note and apologised i wouldn't be upset.
Gotta come up to syd one day and get a shot with yours i recon :P
Is that 'gm6747' up your way as well?

23-03-14, 15:35 GMT+10#29 That'd be cool actually, but if you want to do it while they're still deadset twins you might need to do it soon because mine will be copping some changes quite soon. (In the form of an LE lip and wing)
GM6747 I'm not sure, if you mean that black executive that'd be near you or are you referring to a different car?

26-03-14, 20:37 GMT+10#34 Thanks man, it had to be put back to original!
It was beyond repair unfortunately with the kinked roof and all. Would have been nice to keep but we got a great payout from the insurance which i used to buy and fix this up.

01-04-14, 21:10 GMT+10#35 Been loving driving this car around alot lately, she cruises really well. Although there are a cupple of things to fix like a leaking windshield for one, and the exhaust hitting on the pan hard rod :/ other than that shes mint.
Also got her first car show on Sunday at the 'All Holden day' At the Dandenong Showgrounds, so shes gotta look good haha. Just a few things to do like a bit more polishing in the engine bay and under the wheel arches [cut the built up dirt off as water wont], also needs a polish and a wax so i'll need to steal the buff from work and give it a lick!

02-04-14, 04:19 GMT+10#36 Awesome man love the pics, it so clean. theirs something about the budget builds rely shows in the end with attention to detail such as yours.
think a nice set of berlina hubbies on 15s or what ever they came out with for those special occasions would be the icing on the cake.
Im on the same path with mine n will stay tuned.

I wanted to get some turbo hubcaps but they are very common and sort after so ive decided to go the 14" berlina hubcaps. It would have been nice to have them on by sunday but i'd rather paint the hubcaps and rims properly the first time in 2 pak.
I think i'll need to pay for a membership soon so i can comment on your thread

With the All holden day approaching i've gone into full swing getting the car ready. As corney as it sounds i want it to stand out so a late night buff was in order.
Safe to say it came up really well considering its factory paint. It's essentially swirl free with the exception of a few line in the paint from the 20 or so years of people using foam brushes on it at the car wash.
