29-08-13, 21:26 GMT+10#21 We're putting his on a Toyota 1fz-fe 4.5l I6.
It's funny we were worried it might be a bit big for his motor but your car gives me hope it might be real good.

sorry wrote and ran its a good persanol goal l was just saying about the time technologie has come so far in over 20+yrs l would like to see an old 186/202 brake into the low 9s, it was nevel rochford the guy who did it 20+yrs ago l think it was a strata 2 kit, his motor were slap together just something he got from the weckers and he use to put new rings in them, drive it to willow bank for the runin and then race it l would think that with what you have it should be alot faster so keep trying mate

01-09-13, 21:16 GMT+10#24 rb3torana, WOW that's amazing, I remember doing the compression experiments years ago and we had a lot of trouble starting the engines when they had less than 6.5:1.
but in those days we were using a slightly more volatile leaded Super, think it was 82 or 86 Ocy or something ..
you must upload some sounds of this 186 idling, must be really grumpy and crackly in the big pipes until she warms up a bit. love that ...
hey pigsy, a mate of mine still has an LJ with the original strata 3 kit from Garrets back like 15+ years ago. he's probably about 6 months off getting the old Castlereagh racer back on the road... 11.2's 124MPH on slicks back using the 202 grey in its prime he tells me. Won a stack of bracket events as the Torry was so consistent. Ran like a whole season on the same plugs until it split the tinny number 6 bore that retired it from track until its recent revival.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

01-09-13, 21:26 GMT+10#25 So what's he got that's so exotic that makes you think it should be faster then 133mph?
Is it the 5.8:1 compression, the massive 2.8L pushrod motor with home ported head or the ultra high tech Chinese bush bearing turbo?
This LJ you're comparing it to, what did it weigh and what mph did it run?
You do realize this is a full weight street car don't you?

01-09-13, 21:48 GMT+10#26 The biggest problem with holden 6's is the block will eventually tear in half ( straight down the welch plugs ) past a certain power level. At the moment my thing is making around 570hp at the flywheel. Theres a ute in benaraby making around 650hp on methanol and runs 8.80's. So Im not really sure how much further I want to push it. Lol the funny thing your saying about technology (EFI vs Carb) is that before I put water/meth on it, the EFI honestly felt slower at the same boost, it just drove better.
I still dont know what you mean by 'with what you have' as I dont really see anything thats special about my engine. Its still got stock ports/valves, sorry a 10min de-burr and the chambers opened up. Cast pistons, stock rods with Arp bolts, 2nd hand bearings, smallest solid cam available off the shelf from camtech. ebay turbo, gate and cooler. The turbo manifold I made for a open t3 which later got changed to a open t4, with a split housing turbo. Im sorry mate but please point out from my list something that isnt basic?
bachig24u, it actually starts pretty good but would run better with longer runners and smaller plenum. The biggest change in starting the car was when I shouted it a new set of rings lol.
Heres that turbo ute also

Cheers
Just read your post UNS10, its actually got 5.9:1 and is a 3L which we all know will have to make another 150hp just on these 2 things alone lol. Cheers mate
