i told him to stick iu up his ass and tracked down a second hand one for $70, picking it up tonight and will fit myself and if that's not the problem i ALMOST give up haha

You havent said if the car is turbo or not? If it is i'd be checking all cooler pipes (if you have a cooler) silicone, any air lines coming off the plenum etc before changing AFM.
