Best thing you can do is service the engine. Dont get a cold air intake, stock airboxes are dyno proven to make more power than a dodgy pod filter sucking in engine bay heat. Diff gears to 3.9 or 4.11, get em from the wreckers out of a skyline or pintara Convert to manual, NA manuals go so much better than NA autos Echaust like sweeny said but not too big Anything more is a waste of money

One of the best mods I did to my VL was a cold air intake like the one in this how to article http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=17106 combine the CAI with the mods mentioned in the above posts

Punch a hole in the bonnet and run a poddy straight off the inlet upwards... best cold air induction

I got this s**t But seriously, exhaust/extractors and keep it clean and well maintained is the way to go for sure. As well as suspension mods... VLs need those. :| Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

When I brought the VL calais turbo it had a cold air intake. They had a hole inserted below the air box with a pipe running down & towards the front bumper in the gaps/fin part of the bumper. Don't know if it made much difference but I noticed more of a difference when I placed a pod filter on. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
