Darren I was sure the 51r outperformed the normal 42r but could be wrong. Would def like to to know more there...

I'm starting to think down the "do it once" line and just digging deep and getting the 42x....seems like the 51r is pretty much forgotten about and people are selling them only to upgrade to 42x's Also anyone know the difference between the 4294 and the 4202????

I think the TA exhaust wheel spools quicker but flows less, so perhaps the 4202 makes more as it has less backpressure, and thats the killer of power (if it does..) **** knows lol Borgwarner batmowheel would be good..havn't they got a newer one again?, think i saw it on yellowbullet.com cheers darren

Great read this. So many queries I have had about these turbos being discussed and answered thanks guys Darren seems like t51r is older age technology...however if u look at brand new pricing the 51r is quiet a lot more than a 42x

i know i had a t51r on my old vl turbo ramped up to nearly 720rwhp on 39 psi with 1.06 rear on it and it came on boost at 3200rpm so it was a nice turbo but i would love to see how it will do on my 6L now lol and the above details where on a single cam too Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

T51R will make the power you want on a single cam i went 9.1 down the quarter with it and wheel spinning was an issue...... it had an 8 in it but i packed it up

i had the 1.06 rear and start spooling at 3200rpm on a two speed powerglide was on full boost in about 500rpm i reckon a smaller rear should come on lower and would work a treat in a street car.... it wasnt that bad for lag and high 9s you will knock that over easy

You could also look at Billet 76 GTS and Precision 7675 or 7682, all three of those are billet dual ceramic ball bearing and good for 1000hp+ with the right combo

The one I'm looking at has .86rear nothing wrong with a T51R..its a decent turbo, not a pos. some older age stuff is good, doesn't matter about the turbine wheel, it flows good air, and seems to spool quicker than the GT turbine by what i have been told HKS used the same turbine on there HKS T51R SPL and KAI..probally because it spooled nicer If you want high 9's why are you looking at very low to high 8 148-155mph turbo's?Thats a **** load of lag for no reason. You should be looking at 60-70mm comp wheel turbos( and down on the lower side)..how bought a precision 6766? I would have thought in a T4 frame it has enough snort for mid 9's still, or if you want high 9's PT 6262, bit more snort than a 3540 , or even a 3540 will scrape in 9.9's..lol then theres bog warmers, then theres FP turbos....lol cheers darren

U make a good point Darren, but I just want to have it there (the turbo) in case I want to go faster in the future...
