It has 2 of this shaped holes..
And 2 of these..
The box says water cooled, but there's a slight bit of oil coming from the square hole, which you can see the main shaft through!? Bah, what am I, a doctor? ;-)
Shoot, sorry about the size of the pix...

Cool thanks. If it has 4 holes in the center core it's water cooled.

And so it starts, she's been put in the shed (just wish it was my shed!) next to my toy car, soon, I'll start taking off the bumpers and plastics to respray, then the engine and slush box auto will come out, fix the engine bay, hide wiring etc, battery to boot.
Then, either paint the body myself, or get it done professionally, get my Aerotech interior re-trimmed......sh1t, the list goes on and on really..
And the test dummies for both cars are here...
Cheers..

Finally got something done..hey mods, maybe this thread should be moved to the "In Progress" section?! (Only cos there's no "slow progress" section)
Now to get rid of that pesky battery tray...

Need a bit of advice from you experienced turbo guys, I’ve taken the head off to find a few bits of alloy corroded. I’m a bit worried about the one closest to the cylinder (middle pic). Do you think it could be welded or even something like Jb weld would do the trick?

Cheers in advance.

Yeah just working with what I have, genuine A8 motor, used, rebuilt about 40 thousand ks before I got it.
Ive had delay after delay with it all, and finally starting to play with the old VL.

How does that even happen? The rust inside the block.. My only guess would be from being dormant for so long without being started?
Otherwise good luck, good to see the build is still going.

Yeah it’s bit sh1t, but I’ll pressure flush the whole block and head.
It feels good to get my hands dirty on the vl again..

Those with an eagle eye might’ve noticed the brake booster swap in The last 2 pics, it’s the vs-vt booster I made years ago, from the tech article By RB30-POWER

Damm man where was it stored?
Would you be interested in selling the car?

It was in a shed, mostly covered. I toyed with the idea of selling.... But just couldn't do it! Maybe one day, when I've finally had enough of it, but unsure if that'll ever happen.
