You'll find most VK mirrors are squarer, more angular and uglier than the VL type. You'll know them when you see them. Some late VK wagons from Adelaide got VL mirrors, and early VL sedans from Melbourne had VK mirrors (Jan & Feb '86 mostly).

Order date: 24th Jan 1986. Sales Date 10th Feb 1986.
Non-Turbo though.. but interesting none the less.
It is. Thanks. The factory alarms only came in with the first Calais upgrade later in 1986. There also won't be a cut out for the key inside the glove box on the main dash panel.

02-07-12, 19:29 GMT+10#23 This thread got me thinking earlier this evening so I did abit of digging
A number of months back a friend of my fathers who used to work for Holden here in NZ gave me some VL material which included these press shots for the VL when it was new
Now in this picture you may or may not be able to read it, but the number on the compliance tag reads "AVL014101M" and the date appears to be "7-86".
Body number on the main body tag reads "101078M".
Being a Turbo Manual Berlina Sedan in Evening Blue, It would be awesome if this car still existed but I imagine its highly unlikely
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

That's brilliant Dan. Thanks. The earliest Melbourne turbo so far, by a long shot. Great to have the numbers for a press car too.
Still waiting on info on CUP-727 and those early road test cars though.
Anything anyone else has like this, little snippets, anything, all adds to the story.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

No worries. Glad you're still on the case. Anything you can come up with would be brilliant.

Now whats up with the interior? Obviously the seats have been recovered but that dash and surrounding plastic looks Brown? Never seen another VL with that colour.
Possibly a carry over from VK?
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

30-07-12, 19:15 GMT+10#37 That red and brown interior could only ever suit one person, the guy that put it in, the seats and trims need to come back out.

28-11-12, 19:36 GMT+10#40 the decals were done at the holden dealership. the car was sold as a holden factory demo after its test track period. old couple bought it.they traded it a couple of years later for a vn berlina. then he bought it. LW5 MX7.
