i wouldnt say the walkies are aerodynamic, the wing themselves way a f*ckload and there still a box like all the other vl's

The wing isn't the only weight, the 21 piece body kit actually weighs around 80Kgs and to set things straight it is aerodynamic unlike the HDT the VL Walkinshaw body kit was placed on the car and wind tunnel tested. Before you compare Walkinshaws to your average box read the link below.....

While I do like Walkinshaws, I will still always hold the opinion that it's like putting an aerodynamic bodykit on a minivan...

22-05-12, 21:54 GMT+10#24 i think the walkies are pretty ordinary looking really, sure when you see one you check it out, put personally its nothing to jump up and down about, the body kits are pox looking i think.

An aerodynamic kit on a mini van still makes it a minivan. The body kit on the Walkinshaw makes a VL into a Group A (race car L.O.L). By the way they didn't just put a body kit on a VL, there was a lot of research and development put into it including the Twin Throttle Manifold. It's a car that everyone that loves Vl's wants but can't get their hands on.

It's not about jumping up and down and your opinion on the body kits looks isn't what we were discussing it was wether it was aerodynamic or not. You should have read the link I posted before making a fool of yourself.

im sure his entitled to his own opinion.. everyone has their different views.. to a holden enthusiast their amazing for the fact that u rarely see them on the roads and are really rare.. if they were a common car itd take place with an au falcon as an ugly box as majority of people think that.. personally i like them but they dont tickle everyones fancy

This was my original question,
Explain aerodynamics and engine building, what you and everyone else thinks of the actual car has no relation to the question. Fact is Walkinshaw body kit is aerodynamic and the engine in the bay was a freak in it's day so the fact remains that HSV can build engines and they understand aerodynamics...

22-05-12, 22:40 GMT+10#29 Walky bodykits look pretty whaleish. That being said, they are still a nice car (if only for the color and interior). There was alot of development put into the bodykit.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

22-05-12, 22:57 GMT+10#32 end of the day a the walkinshaw is and always will be the legendary vl. its body kit actually worked. and the engine itself had different heads, 4 bolt mains and the race manifold.

i was putting it in sense as if it was an ordinary everyday common car aside of its famous 'walkinshaw' title.. no **** their too different cars.. back in the 80's with 180 odd kw thats equiv of a 11-10 second street car nower days.. and owning a hj coupe has nothing to do with it.. their a boat but i love them aside of that.. each to their own

I just meant someone with an old classic shouldn't call another classic a boat. As for an everyday car, just ask anyone, I drive the absolute crap out of mine all the time and at one stage I drove it as a daily for about 4 years and I never heard anyone call it a boat. I've heard birdbath, bat mobile and plastic pig but no boat.
