Already at 6100... i tip 10k+
If i bought it the first one id be doing is putting an alarm in it... the LED wouldnt deter me.
Besides thats easily swapped for a different panel.
The steering wheel is funny.... Maybe he put the nose cone badge onto suit.
What all this detuned 1986 business???

i queried the seller about vl turbo's being detuned and this is what he replied with-
You obviously weren't around in the late 80s - early 90s to witness the mayhem these cars created. Almost every second day on the news had a VL turbo lent from dad to his son wrapped around a pole along with another fatality on the roads. In actual fact, I am lead to believe that the VL turbo was the model where the government knew that had to do something with the P-plater laws & powerful cars. As for the power difference, have you seen a VL Turbo series 1 & a series 2 on an engine dyno during the testing & tuning phase? didn't think so.
Holden at the time didn't want this advertised however they did want to show the government that they were concerned for the public safety & were doing something about it for the vehicles sold public, however this was not the case for the vehicles destined for the Police Department. The difference ranged from 5kw - 7kw less for the public but it was enough to say Holden were doing something about it. After all, if it wasn't for Holden winning the government contract, the VL turbo would not have existed. Nissan exclusively had to create this engine purely on the basis of Holden winning the government contract with the Police Department, and that is why my friend Nissan didn't, and couldn't have the turbo engine as they would have been contenders for winning the government contract as well....just a bit of trivia for you.

Nissan didn't design these for a Police contract and I doubt the 87 models were detuned, they were always specced at 150KW, few meat pies in there.
The reason Nissan didn't have RB30T's was because it was in the agreement after holden requested this engine to be made to holdens specifications.
It was also agreed that holden would release the VL RB30E before Nissan could release the new Skyline. This created a bit of friction between the two motor companies with Nissan protesting at Holden promoting the nissan donk as theirs resulting in holden changing it's promotion of the VL.

That looks mint ITG035...
I think the trouble with selling a mint original VLT is that theyre not really the sort of thing people buy to leave stock...so paying $10k for something that youre likely to put a cooler and exhaust on and lower it at a minimum is a pretty expensive starting point...the temptation to modify is too great!

The black steering column and shroud in that maroon Berlina is a little suspect but other than that, it makes me weak at the knees. Same with that marlin blue one!

That bloke is full of ****. I work with a bloke who worked at Holden's at the time of the VL and he has said that they are all the same. All they did was pull the motors out of the crate, and drop them in the car.
