At the end of the day its just a revenu making system for gov sa cops got a quota of cars they need to. defect and it won't be the ones that are unsafe and need to be off as no one bothers then gov gets no money its the nice one s and they always try to get ya a second time so charge twice . That's my theory anyway do wat I do book in for early time possible in morning that way when get more defects ya can take it back the same day and they only check wat found . Did this with my senator got defected my fault pumped skid cop couldn't prove I did it so defected me to regency for seat wobble and oil leaks that didn't exsist didn't even pop bonnet , all i did was took exhaust off washed car took in for inspection got second defect for tint and too low in back so took subs etc out boot peel tint out drove back in all clear easy as pie didn't have to pay twice or get full inspection second time that day . Inspector laughed said wat gonna do with rest of my day off told him gonna put sub in boot and loud as Hell exhaust back on he laughed again n replied I knew that exhaust hadn't been on long n said he didnt care cos at time of inspection it was standard hsv exhaust it all to do with attitude don't give them any and you'll be fine remember they get paid at end of week no matter what so they don't care if pass or fail you ---------- Post added 28-03-12 at 09:20 ---------- Oh end above all keep the car maintained good tyres etc lights work you'll be fine don't wait for the nice policeman to tell you that got a brake light out I cant begin to tell you how annoyed I get when drive around n see this knowing my car has nothing wrony with it but gets defected yet others drive around with the it won't happen to me theory end ranting my bad

In this instance the Cops should be servicing the community by letting you know that it is out and helping rather than doing the revenue raise. I'm sure most people would get it fixed on the spot if that was the case.

Yeah. If he said, " look mate, youve got a tail light out, get it fixed. If you get seen again with it still not fixed, you will be defected" now that is what a fair cop would say. Anyone can drive up the road to a servo, and buy a globe for a couple of bucks, and fix a tail light.. Sent from my 7 Trophy using Board Express

Totally agree with both of the above posts . Lol was expecting other to slam me bout my rant but as said agree with both of you . Unfortunately the cops have lost a lot of there power to use their own discretion and can't give warnings anymore. Well so an ex cop told me , but at end of day its bout attitude yours and there's as well as how many issues der are wiv the vechile . My mates car got defected for not having a breather hose on the battery as it in boot ( factory skyline battery in boot ) whole car standard that's how silly they can be if wanna I dont know if my mate was asking for it tho as I wasn't der at time ---------- Post added 28-03-12 at 12:34 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by N/A 88 [View Post] Well its off the road for a while now, had a new globe and went to put it in.. I got picked up for too low. I had 20s on the front and stockies on the back. Reason being 2 wheels were getting fixed and only had 2 spare wheels at home Cop got me assuming I was doin' skids He was a real prick to me Realized I got a clean record was nice to me Still got a defect.. Although was majored for too low and bald rear tyres Did end up costing me $3500 for the roady. Defects are definitely a bundle of fun

From what i heard on the radio this morning, looks like the state government wants to bring in roadworthys at change of ownership. The want to do it sooner rather than later as well. I just hope the set it up like everywhere else, where it goes to a mechanic to by signed off, but knowing the revenue rasing pollies, it will end up being a Regency inspection....

+1 should go to workshop rather then regency , + defects should be changed so workshops can be credited or qualified to remove defects rather than waste time taking car to regency cos at end of day there just gov paid mechanics
