I was gonna 3D model the exterior of the motor (major attention to the rocker cover to make sure it looks accurate, as this is what you'd be looking at most of the time) and rapid prototype it using a mates machine, might even look at getting the rocker cover done in aluminium or something so i can polish it. Same goes for the turbo/plenum/manifolds. Using this method i can do the bumpers, seats, calais nosecone, SL/Calais grille etc. If it went well i was going to look at doing peoples individual cars, since its alot cheaper to do it this way compared to the prices of other 1;18 custom builders lol, only problem would be finding the SS group A models themselves haha

A mate of mine knows a bloke who makes model parts out of resin so I’ll ask if it’s possible to get some RB30 motors made up. My model is a 1:18 scale painted in acrylic (spray gun) and the wheels are from a model of a VT exec police car also made by biante/auto art. Im keen to do a calais now but finding the time is hard as this took me a year that was on and off.

Nice work. Did you have a few progress shots of this on the Biante forum? I'm really hoping they do a VLCT at some stage. Theres a spot in my cabinet begging for one

Yeah resin moulds would be a good idea for clear parts i think, although rapid prototyped clear parts have that faded cloudy look to them, does it not sound like an average calais grille anyway? haha

that's just awesome. Very impressive but you can tell this guy's from Melbourne......if he was from Sydney he would have built a little number plate off to the side :-)
