some people say run in only needs to be a few soft runs on the dyno, others say mineral oil 1000kms... find who you want to tune your car and speak to them! if you are using either aftermarket computer/injectors then you will need them to put in a base run in tune. but the same really would apply for a decent cam etc. i paid (not as much as a normal tune) to have mine "run in tuned" basically a safe map. it was filled with mineral oil too. i drove it for 1000kms, up and down the fwy, softly loading it up and letting it drop back in 5th, rolling up from 90-110-90-110. boring... monotonous... but worth it.

Break in oil or mineral oil.. its most legal to do it on a dyno, 4th gear power runs working your way into it. Its also important to keep the car in gear as it slows down from the power runs to create a good vacuum to suck all the **** through. Once you have done 30 or 40 realistically the car is pretty run in. I'm anal about oil so I drop it at the 500km mark and use mineral oil again. Then again at the 1500 or so. I just keep an eye on the oil and you can filter gram it if your really worried. I drive it for a while after that and then next oil change is onto the oil of choice. Basically I think the point is, don't baby it but don't thrash it. Loading it up is your friend, so boosting it gently is the way to go.
