If you get aftermarket lights use the old rubber moulds if you can salvage them, i found they seal better than the repro crap
awesome car btw, make sure you include some pics of the sanding process (tools used etc)!! im about do to the same thing to my calais soon
Cheers Fleas. I cant wait to have the two cars side by side. Im not gonna go aftermarket headlights.. I have a few sets that I could probably make one good pair with.
Xash - great idea... the rubber from the original tail lights was immac so I will use that. Ill be sure to do that for ya. Next stage is using a speed file (long block) with 320 gritt to flatten the car out. The picture I dont have is the car after the primer when you put a black haze (guide coat) over the whole car. So then when you speed fileing the car the low spots show up. Ill post pics when I start
Car will more than likely be up for sale after its paint and few bits and peices with reg and roady... im thinking id rather fund my wagon to "go fast" than to keep both.. so if there interest out there let me know she will be an immac original car

I was wondering why you were selling the wagon, and that brought me here, nice work! make me think I should do the same, clean up and paint engine bolt ons. Looks great.
Looks very good mate. Ill be doing the same thing with my engine when its all stripped down. Im pretty handy with a can, paint lots of stuff. What type of paint did you use, any tips? Also what bronze/gold colour is that?

Thanks mate. The paint I used was the VHT pressure packs. Engine enamel etc. Word of warning, the product has gone really down hill and its like water to spray. Was really dissapointed how different it is compared to how it used to be.. but in saying that.. still looks the same. That gold is VHT Universal Gold.
In terms of tips.. make sure it is 100% clean. Use high pressure wash on things you can with degreaser. The other way I clean things is with petrol and scrub the crap out of it. Then clean it down after that. The cleaner the surface, the better the finish.
Looking good Deano! Of course I dont mind you posting up some pics, all good
Its amazing how just taking your time to clean and paint things makes a massive different. Great looking bay man.
Here are some pics of the shell - just in primer with a guide coat.. need to start blocking it soon. Started doing the bonnet as you can see.. wont take long.
Cheers guys

Yep nothing i would of otherwise done with the paint. I might go all silver to match my polished piping... Thanks - Jarrod

is this why the wagon is being sold or what? i mean its awesome but a shame to sell the wags to start another project. you will love having no electrics to deal with though!
nahh not the reason im selling the wagon mate. Its just time, and id rather focus on this car. Im all for genuine matching number cars and now i have one.. might as well make good use of it.
awesome. and I bet youve taken the wagon as far as it can go.
if you can give me an idea of what you did with the cargo area that would be amazing. I'm struggling to make mine look decent and yours is schmicko.
definitively paint that bay though. you don't want it to let down the rest of the car even though it is original.
