yes, l will have to get hold of a punch, but amazingly they both are auto spigot bushes and still won't fit with my turbo auto...? l thought the spigot bushes come in only 1 size for the autos? l will take my old spigot bush out and install it in the new engine after l get a (drift) punch.

engine and trans is apart and converter is in properly after checking it over and over again. when l do the test it sits on the bush on my old engine (without mounting it on) as the bush is longer in lenth, but as soon as l put it on the new engine it doesn't sit just want to fall off but will mount on if l put the flex plate bolts on? confused. will check converter once again...NOW. ---------- Post added 31-12-11 at 12:32 ---------- pulled the converter and the input shaft also came out with it, now l can't get it off the converter....lol. ---------- Post added 31-12-11 at 12:33 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by FRKVLT [View Post] Update: pulled the transmission and new engine out of the car and found the following: You can see in the pic with my old engine the bearing is long (in the centre). The new engine bearing is too small?? l'm assuming the bearings can be changed over? if yes, how would l go about changing the bearing? Would l have to return the engine or can l just install my old bearing in the new engine> cheers has anyone have a pic of their spigot bush on a vl, l would like to find out do they normally stick out or stay in the hole... pic would be great thanks.

I might just drop it off to the trans place and get them to check it out. So definitely its not a spigot bush concern? - shorter or longer in length doesn't matter?

It's highly likely the oil pump will be rooted.

thx for the help, will let you know how l go. ---------- Post added 31-12-11 at 18:03 ---------- qik clarification, so it doesn't matter if the spigot bush is longer or shorter it should still work either way and leave it as is and just get the trans checked out?

checked the converter and the splines everything seems ok, free spinning nice and smoothly, here are some pics as how it sits in the bellhousing wont go any further so lm still guessing the SPIGOT BUSH IS THE PROBLEM?

the spigot bush cannot be the problem if the flex plate is forced against the block. I think the converter was not engaged with the oil pump or it is the incorrect converter all together. They are the only two possible causes for the symptoms you have described.

Forget counting clicks that's dumb, take measurements bellhousing to convertor bosses and flex plate to block. The bellhousing to convertor measurement must be bigger

That looks like the manual spigot, but as said it's not going to interfere.

Can a turbo auto and torque converter be fitted to a N/A engine? my mechanic says that could be the problem? Should l go ahead and purchase N/A transmission and torque converter? that is what my mechanic has suggested?
