its a vl, people sell them for a reason... then buy another one forgetting that reason...

As the above has said. Its a VL lol. You sell them in anger, and then buy them again forgetting why you sold them in the first place.
But the good memories far outweigh the bad ones.

yeah mate just stick with the basturd... ul get it sorted. there bloody old cars and have a sh!tload of issues but u still love em.
An also u have to take into account that when u buy a new one, (regardless of what the previous owner has said) theres always going to be a period that u have to fix stuff up on it. Not one vl is guna come perfect, unless its a restored one thats cost u like 20+ g's. Ive had mine for a year and im still sorting and replacing **** out on it. It just comes with owning one.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

This is why I recommend for young guys without much cash NOT to fly down somewhere and spend so much money on a 25 year old car. If it's just a weekender and you can afford for **** to break then no worries, but if its your only car, you would in the long run be much happier with a newer car. $7500 will get you quite a decent car. If you want performance for that money you wouldnt be far off an r32 either. I can imagine your excitement to go pick up the car and bring it home, then your pure heartbreak at having to return home without the car.
One thing that happened to my vl was when it was hot it would start to cut out, and the tacho would go nuts. Then it would just cut out completely and not start again till it cools. Turns out it was the COIL 12v plug, which if you have a look is the ****test cheapest bit of plastic imaginable for such an important plug. Anyway the wires that go into it hang off the plug and pull the plug downwards, breaking contact. When the wires warmup they bend more.
I suggest change the plug to the one that the r31 skylines use (you will need to change the coil aswell, but worth it), its about 10 times beefier and 10 times smarter design, so that problem could never happen. Anyway it took me a year of having the car cut out, hundreds of dollars replacing dizzys, cas's, ecu, afm's, and in the end all it needed was a cable tie to hold the weight of the wire off the plug!!

Yeah man that sucks bigtime. At least you didn't melt your pistons and **** the head like the other bloke recently did on his way home from buying the car!

My guess would be the CAS or a problem with the fuel pump. Sack the first auto lecky and get another one to have a look. You should get a tuner to check all the settings in the ECU aswell.

Yeh it was the CAS. I'm taking it straight To my mechanic when it gets back to cairns for a good look over and a decent tune

Mate i spent double that and got 80ks down the road to find it had a problem. Not a cracked head but a cracked block. I also was interstate. So instantly it was a new build of the donk. I got no where with the old owner. Just deal with it and know its your own now is my advice.

i flew down south thursday to pick up my new vl turbo. got off the plane and old mate i brought the car off picked me up from the airport. i went over the car, took it for a drive and was happy (car also came with a road worthy). i started driving home, and after a while the car started running rough. i pulled over and stopped the car, popped the bonnet and couldnt figure out what was wrong, went to start it and wouldnt start. after about half an hour the car started, i started driving to find a mechanic and broke down again. i called racq and they came and said that the dizzy wasnt getting spark, he got it started and said i should make it to the next town to see a mechanic. drove ten mins and broke down again, called racq and got it towed to the next town. took the car to the auto electrician, they couldnt find out what was wrong with it so i had to leave it with them to look at on monday and i had to catch a plane home. im so piss*d off, the car cost me 7500 to buy but by the time i get it fixed and home its going to be more like a 10000 car. is there anything i can do to get some money back from the guy i brought it off? racq cost me $220, tow truck cost me $120, auto electricans cost me $480 so far, and my plane ticket cost me $700. i still have to pay for whatever they do to it on monday, fly back to pik the car up. i didnt even own the car for 24 hours and its going to cost me just as much as the car
just do what i use to do, keep a spare CAS in the car with a toolkit. once u do it the 1st time u can do it in about 30 mins. problem solved.

exact same thing happend to my patrol, found a DIY thread on this forum on how to change the cas and it was easy as pie. first time takes about an hour when your being careful, the second time is like 15min. and all you need from memory is a size 8 socket and a medium flat screwdriver.

i remember i sold my falcon to someone
45 mins later, he called me and said the motor blew up, and it was my fault, i told him, no warranty blah blah as on the recipt, and bad luck.
he had told me where it was, so i went there late late at ngiht (side of the road)
there was rubber all up the sides of the rear 1/4's and all, they had been giving it absolutle hell
