24-07-11, 02:25 GMT+10#21 u can get h beam rods for 600 a set now, and with decent forgies for 1100 (cp's) u shouldnt need to spend over 4k for a forged bottom end, I didnt. Spending money resizing, shot peening and balancing standard rods is money down the drain imo.

28-07-11, 19:21 GMT+10#25 depends do u want to keep the car etc if u only want to keep it for a few years probly would be ok, if u plan on keeping it for ages do it once do it right dont let people brain wash you, cos every little thing adds up $100 here and $200 there and all of a sudden you have spent 5g trust me!, its not a 4g excercise for a full on build a decent sump is about $700 to $800 etc etc just my 2c

a cam will be needed for around 300kw, either something like the crow stage 2 (jpc stage 2) or the 1147c works fine in so many combinations. The standard bottom end if in good condition will handle 300rwkw no probs at all, that goes for sump, balancer, pumps, rods and pistons. You will need a good tune on it for it to last, even thrashing it shouldnt do it much harm so long as it doesnt detonate. Ive seen a few make over 500rwhp on completely standard N/A internals and driven like their stolen.. and the motor lasts longer than the drivetrain everytime.
