Why can't I bend the one I have in a vice, taking an inch out of it's length?

I suppose you would have to be careful and only put about two or three small bends in it without kinking it, if you get it right you save a hundred bucks but I suppose it's a guess to how much to take out of it, we can only try. Picked up my Lovells today, I believe they are more progressive than King.

You would be better off just cutting and re welding it shorter

Your suspension is a major component allowing you to control your car on the road. Why the hell would you risk yourself and others by..............I'm not even going to bother - Alex and I have flamed enough people about **** suspension, tyres and brakes over the years that some people should know better. It's simple: 1. I want a) lower my car b) do it cheaply 2. To do this I need a) lower springs matched front/rear b) matched shocks c) an adjustable panhard road d) the money to buy these parts i. I don't have the money to buy ALL the parts .: I cannot lower my car.

Yeah personally I wouldn't muck around with it to save $150

What about the starving children in South Africa? Not everyone wants to spend up if there's a way out of it, bending a panhard rod slightly is a cheap way to keep the diff centred.

No, it's an easy way to cause a panhard rod to break. And what of starving children in South Africa? Do you even know anything about SA? It's actually a pretty civilised place. You're probably thinking of really bad areas, like Ethiopia.

Bending is fine, as long as you are aware of the risks of a broken panhard rod at speed

cutting springs is worse enough, but cutting your panhard, what a joke, just getting sideways would put too much stress on it and woud cause it to break.

Fuel adds weight, what is the best amount to have when deciding how much to shorten the panhard?
