Nah Jases VL wouldnt be putting out much shes just a daily driver, dont think hes done to much in the way of engine work.
had alot of suspension work done though.
Yea, got dyno sheet from 2005... LOL. God knows what its at now. You saw 1st hand how rich its running now... But then again i weigh twice as much as any other VL with all that plastic on it... They didnt think about the weight when they achieved 20% better air flow!! LOL

03-06-11, 16:18 GMT+10#23 Ours is 162kw at the treads,HDT's figures were 196 at the engine(not far wrong)But now has a bit more if you calculate a 30% loss thru the drive train..

07-06-11, 11:45 GMT+10#26 I agree Kw is good but then you do not drive a car on Power alone.
Torque is what you use 90% of the time.Ours kicks out 518nm,And that is what gets you moving,And also most of it is quite low down. This is where the extra pistons help.
Agree or disagree?

None??How much torque did yours kick out?
I have a freind with a stroker and his kicks out just over 700nm.(dynoed)A stock 4.9 had 323nm.Will hunt up the paperwork on ours to confirm.
Cheers Marty
Sorry it is 418nm not 518nm

07-06-11, 14:13 GMT+10#29 Sorry just refering to your line "this is where the extra pistons help". I can't remember how much torque mine produced, but you're right it wouldn't have been as much as a stroker making the same power

Just looking at some specs the factory 6 litre comms are making 550nms(standed)
You may of seen the car I was refering to,It is a black walky rep and it does a bit of Drag work,Has a 6 speed in it.

An awsome machine!Would be fun to drive. But alais mine is basicly stock and not been moded,Yours must certainly be about a 10-11 sec car on the strip. A long way from the standed 296nm from factory.

07-06-11, 16:29 GMT+10#33 You have to be careful when quoting torque figures obtained from a dyno. Although a dyno torque figure is kind of correct, it also kinda of isn't. To obtain true torque figures from a dyno, allowances have to made for wheel size, diff ratio and roller size. The engine torque figure for most petrol engined cars (and this is a very rough guide!) is usually a little less than twice the kW rating.

That is just over the hundy mark so quite good,Slicks will make a big difference(auto or manual?)And what gearing have you.Becouse you should be able to drop a couple of seconds off your time with that engine combo.
