Elite tent was a joke and was only good for shade, only 1-3 cars that could be called 'elite' (compared to other show cars in the world and in Australia) - most didn't deserve the 'elite' tag or shaded tent! Then out of the hundreds of cars, in my opinion, only about 10-20 cars I like or consider "show worthy", and if a car isn't that clean it should at least be out on the track doing some high performance sh*t....
Still...you get to see burnouts, still an event worth "supporting" if you got the spare dollars and time, but Powercruise > motorvation...no doubts there at all. Got to Powercruise around lunch time and left around 10pm that night.....had a ball watching cars do laps and stuff. Well worth the cash.
The "security" are wankers as well.
When I was getting my car scrutinised, one of the judges said to the owner next to me "Give my regards to your parents" - and you guessed it, that guy won something.
Security? Yeah - did nothing after my car was vandalised and to this day Peter Pike has NEVER returned any of my phone calls nor emails about the incident.
But you're right - burnouts and clunge for the whole weekend, so can't really complain. Just don't leave your car alone.

I went for pit paddock, I dont like topside, its a major mission to get down to the track from there IMO.
What happened to your car evilpet?

5K+ damage for what someone put in the petrol tank when the car was not attended to on topside on the Sunday (whilst I was watching the burnouts). There is a thread on this. Car clagged / seized up and entire fuel system including tank all the way to the injectors had to be either be cleaned or replaced.
Shannons were awesome about it though.

We strongly suspect it was the people next to us who wouldn't move their car - We had the whole area, they moved there cause they didn't like their spot and told us to feck off when requested - we had to scrunch our cars up in a smaller area as a result - Security did stuff all to move them back to where they should have been. My car was right next to them as pictured.

On the money there Matt - me and my bro went up this year and it was pretty ordinary from a spectator's point of view

Don't like seeing cars out and about? And chances are the good cars that you'd see doing sh*t at motorvation would be at powercruise as well lapping it up?
sure beats walking around and sitting in 45degree heat whilst having to cop an eyeful of near standard pieces of sh*t holdens/fords etc that have entered a "show".
either way, I love seeing cars do burnouts, crack external 'gate and "hooning". Best thing about motorvation is the snake pit that's for sure.

05-01-11, 19:47 GMT+10#33 Time to bump this up considering its only a few weeks away. Spaceball has been accepted again. Entered the dyno, go to whoa, motorkarna and just about everything else except the burnout comp.

Well, "300bhp" isn't too much really, they came with about 280bhp from factory, and they come from factory with 'twin turbo', so by the sounds of it this FD RX7 is also standard.....no different to VS 6-bangers. Unless this RX7 is dumped on it's hole whilst offering a set of awesome rims with 'sick offset' - then yes I don't mind seeing this at a show.

06-01-11, 13:01 GMT+10#37 The mazda was good enough to make auto salon earlier in the year. It's not over the top modified but is modified rims coilovers sterio blah blah... I think motorvation is biaist towards aussie muscle over jap import.

Ah okay.
In regards to the bias part...yeah we've known that for years
Then you look at the cars they give awards to, especially the more modern awards, wow.
But oh well, meh. Who cares. Thankfully I got work there this weekend and don't need to pay entry :/
