Forget the T400 as you'll spend half your torque trying to turn it. The T350 could be a cheap alternative as with little mods it will handle 400hp. Personally I like overdrive for the street and would consider modding the ole Jatco. The Turbo 400 is ideal for big hp applications. As mentioned above will take a **** load of torque to turn and it will soak up a fair bit of power through drive train loss, hence why it is suited in big hp applications. The T350 is a cheaper and far more practical alternative but it seems that is is fairly heavy compared to the Jatco's and Trimatics. T350 and T400 are expensive and hard to find parts to suit but now with the dollar being high should be much cheaper to find parts and cases. A glide is a proven and bullet proof box tried and tested. For the street with those power levels i'd be leaning towards a 3 spd Jatco. A nice strong alternative would be the Ford C series if you want to stay 3 speed and endure reliability, although there was an issue with the reverse patterns of these boxes. ---------- Post added 24-10-10 at 11:46 ---------- Quote: Originally Posted by exchaser [View Post] Get GZM to build you a tuff Keas spec Jatco - 3 or 4 speed, transbrake or not, don't really need it if ur only gunna use a 35r. Have had 400+ in mine for over 3 years now.. plenty of muckin around in it.. 10.09@133 off the footbrake.... transbrake is just good for showing off on the street.. Service the box regularly and get a trans temp guage and don't go over 200F and ur laughing I agree with the above. GZM builds some tough Jatcos. If you service and maintain the box and drive them properly you won't have anu problems. I've spoken to a few auto builders and the biggest killer of boxes are people not driving them properly and short shifting and knocking them back and then claiming power killed the boxes. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Awk then. I'll have to try look into it some more. Had a quick search on the net last night and couldn't find anything. When I change to auto I'll be using a c4. Seem cheap and strong. Had a qoute of $3,000 for one built to 950hp.

The C4 is a strong box, a few boys up in Sydney are using them in their cars. Doubt the reverse pattern issue will effect you though.

If your going to spend decent money, id go Powerglide anyday. Bought the whole box BRAND NEW from the ol USA with our great dollar, shipped, here under 2700. Thats with custom machining to suit my bellhousing, straightcut gearset.vasco input & output, extra clutches in top gear bla bla. Hooked up with a PWR 11"x11" transcooler ($99 ebay) and my temps never get over 150F, thats on the street and wrapped in a blanket too. The only thing that lets it down in the crappy B&M shifter I put in, dont know why but its just a nugget of a thing to adjust...
