got another friggin problem with the beast. bloody stupid thing. serviced the auto on thursday. changed the filter and put correct amount of oil in. ran thru all the gears and then took it for a drive around the block. wouldn't come out of first. got home when it was warm checked in neutral topped up a tiny bit. right on the hot mark. went round the block again and still same problem. won't come out of first til like 5500rpm and it really smashes into second and lurches forward. same as third. floor it to 5500 and it will hesitate for ages then smash into 3rd. few people have mentioned torque converter might have gone others have mentioned valve bodies could be pinched. anyone come across this on a simple friggin fluid change and filter. wish i just left it alone!! hang on a sec. i think i'm gravy. found this just then...... the transmission changes gears dependent on the vacuum from your intake manifold, via hoses and piped. check your vacuum lines, i had the same issue on my vk, i replaced the hoses from the tranny to the carby, but sustitute for efi engine. id say your vaccum lines are off or cracked, it dosent take much for it not to work properly, change the hoses, even if you think there fine, if there soft and tight they should be fine though. might of knocked one off checkin the dip stick Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Dayum I love this colour. What's the go with the steering wheel, I'm one for originality so have you tried chasing up a standard calais steering wheel? The woodgrain one isn't doing it for me. Or maybe try a HDT momo wheel, or any momo style wheel. Just my opinion, it's your car at the end of the day. Otherwise she looks the goods. Now just needs a turbo conversion and a tidy up and you have a mean streeter! Best of luck.

haha cheers man. wheels in the shed. i've always loved wood wheels in vls. personal taste. and the vl ones are way too big. probably gonna leave it stock and auto for a while. sold my r33 a while back because turb's are painful to maintain. and manual + inner city + heavy duty clutch = frustrating exterior respray is now on the cards. just gotta organise a drive car (excel of course haha) while its off the road. i've gotta do all the prep and the shop will spray body silverslate again and moulds asteroid. will look grouse. apart from that just need to do front shocks and kings up there as well. and polish wheels and whitewall tyres. oh and venetions.

pics of my reco'd garnish before it goes back on the car. just a tip. these are friggin hard to do but well worth it. i polished the garnish which turned out well enough. bought a new badge and strip. so a total of about $90 to get it to look like this. pull old garnish strip off. clean down with turps. wash in soapy water. cut and polish garnish. reapply silver stripes with paint pen. squeeqy on the strip (very difficult if your sh!t like me) put holes in it. badge on and your done also i've been fixing things like mad. got all my power windows working and interior light triggers. and i trimmed the centre console lid with material from a vn berlina seat. same as vl calais Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

thought i'd dig this up for the hell of it.... i sold because i'm silly and love utes too much so i bought this bad boy stock standard and have dumped a fair bit of cash into it. sold the vl and bought a jet ski with the money. was good fun til i sold it for a half cab boat to go fishing in. basically loving life in my new ute but. planning on actually keeping this car for a while!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
