31-03-10, 19:01 GMT+10#21 I would love to drive for 3 hours each way to race even if it was for a day.
Instead of driving 1096km round trip.

31-03-10, 19:23 GMT+10#22 Heathcote needs money spent like Liam said, if the track was of the same quality as WSID then yeah, people would be happy to drive there, cant run any night events, cause the generators always seem to run out of fuel soon as it gets dark. Facilities are just about non existant, the only thing it has going for it is the fact that its existing, so there is no need for a new owner to wrestle council for permits or anything.
Would take a ton of money to make it good, but if it was good then people will race there, I dont mind the drive personally, i go further to have a half hour ski behind race boats, so for a day long event its nothing.

31-03-10, 19:28 GMT+10#24 the point i tried to make is that heathgoat could of really capitalised when calder was down and out!!! i would drive 4 hours for 2 days of racing rather then a friday night street meet like most people
88chas im suprised they just not light 44gal drums up and push them against the track wall when the lights go out, or have a few suedys on push bikes peddling to power the lights

why not mention the idea directly to him then?
cant see why it wouldnt work apart from lack of business.
very achievable with the amount of space and location but does he really have the required $$$ to take on such a big project like that ?

13-05-10, 18:07 GMT+10#33 hence why i mentioned the cost at the bottom of my post for such a developement plan.
plus i doubt there would be a high enough return on assets to warrant the risks involved in a project like this

13-05-10, 18:39 GMT+10#34 what a waste of money it would be to build a hotel!!! its not the right location full stop!! there is no market there!!! interstaters would want city not paddocks!!!!

I mentioned that in regards to people talking about building a hotel there and that woud be a cheap altenative.
