Agree with your post mate, couldn't have said it any better myself. No need to splash the coin twice unnecessarily. A lot of it is in the tune itself. I've seen a 15k motor split its guts on the dyno only 4 hours after being dropped in and started while they attempted to run it in. $hit does happen. When your A8 has called it a day or you decide to drop in the stronger engine when you're chasing bigger figures and know the A8 won't cope then try a proven and tested piston/ rod combination: CP Pistons and Howard Rods. End of the day its your call as it is your money but i suggest reading some of the other threads as to who used what and it also comes down to how much money you really want to spend I guess.

I personally love the CP/SPOOL piston and rod combo, great bang for buck.. bearings wise I used ACL race series in mine but used a standard head gasket and o-ringed the block. Im using a brand spankers VLT pump thats been balanced, and planning to push well past 350rwkw on c16/meth so for streetable power it'll be fine.

sorry guys bit off topic here, the car will be getting siemens 660cc injectors and 1147c cam, so it won't start on stock ecu right? So Would it be better if l installed the modified ecu first and then do the injectors and cam? that way l could drive it down to the tuners to get the car tuned then because with the stock ecu l wouldn't even be able to crank it over?

All this stuff has been covered before. Search, actually read and process the information that is already on here and then ask more specific questions if you have them. The ECU question you just asked has been asked plenty of times before and as recent as yesterday.

you can use the standard bottom end... but if you have the money deffinitely go for an aftermarket forged piston/rod e.g. CP, Spool etc. for your own peace of mind and as a bit of insurance down the line Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

That series 2 block that l will buy should be an A8 right? you dont have to buy a A8 block just buy a series 2 NA block strip it right down and fit a A8 oil pump then choose your piston and rod combo and go from there other than the pistons and oil pump the motors are identical.

honestly man, leave what you have in it and go for gold on that, im aiming for 9's on stock bottom end but ive got something else getting built for something else on the side. If your not gonna go the whole hog dont bother spending money on upgrades that are not the best. If you want a top notch oil pump/sleeve pm me, itll cost you almost 1k but. As said but plenty of cars have gone great times on standard bottoms, bigpsi wen 9.80 too didnt he? p.s best of the best is around the 12k mark lol

honestly mate i played around with the same ideas as you for building a motor, trust me, there are 10 or 12 things you havent thought of yet that will pop up, not just for the built bottom end but other things you realise, small jobs that need to be done. i started off and thought yeah 8k on a bottom end, then you realise theres a bunch of other stuff you need to make it worthwile and costs start spiraling. what i ended up doing was buying a second hand built bottom end, with the specs i was chasing anyway, just wait for the right one, will only take as long as building one to find one, and it would easily work out to half the price. just a thought, if you have the cash, keep your eyes open, theres some great stuff coming up for sale every week now.
