well im half way through it now, have pulled everything down, few annoying things, seized bolt holding the exhaust housing on, that was a good fun challenge, 2nd, middle section of the turbo, where the bearings etc sit, had a bit broken off, 3rd, the heat shield is different as has already been stated. So yeah its a bit of a job to do it, will begin rebuilding it during my christmas holiday after i have cleaned it totally.

So ive just finished rebuilding mine, from the kit of ebay to my turbo there were a fair few differences, probs better just buying the essential parts from a turbo rebuilder. In the ebay kit, the exhuast wheel heat shield, gasket/orange massive o-ring, the nut that goes on the end of the turbine shaft were all different, bolts were ok, probably alright to use your old ones. But the kit work wonders. My hi flow T3 with alot of shaft play turned into a turbo with no shaft play at all. Will let you know how it performs once on vehicle, and dont forget to use grease for initial start up.

Just rebuilt mine using the ebay kit. It had a lot of shaft play and blew lots and lots and lots of smoke on boost and off boost. Its still got a real slight amount of shaft play. Ill let yas know how it goes when i put it back on the car tomorrow.

I also didnt use the sprocket looking thing as it appeared to be different.

aittte got mine on today. **** loads better. still blows a little smoke everynow and again mainly noticable when comming to a complete stop ill see it go by the window or when going down a hill on deacelleration??? it might be from oil still in the cooler pipes im not to sure will see how it goes. but still its a **** load better then what it was. I couldnt even drive it anywhere without looking like my car was on fire. note: people who have been working on my car didnt want to rebuild it as they reckon the turbo is ****ed... they reckon it aint going to last very long.... will see how it holds up

ok some new news about the turbo rebuild kits, apon disassembling my 2nd turbo off my vl i discovered that the exhuast heatshield thing, the left hand threaded nut fitted which made the kit 100% perfect for the turbo my vl had on it, but the hi flow turbo i bought had a little variations but looked the exact same from the outside. Just some new for people who are keen to do it, its very easy and saves alot of cash.
