No need to be smart. I thought you meant trying to get your full money back on the car, not the deposit.
I'd ask for the deposit back too!

Brett i dont know why we never see eye to eye on these things? But if you jump on me i will jump on you. No its not cos your a mod either. No offense taken and hope none was given. Yes its pettie but im over it man. No further comment.
I guess it could have been taken 2 ways. Anyway...
My mate purchase a car on ebay unseen and went to go cross country to pick it up but the guy said he wouldnt except a bank cheque when in his ad it clearly said he would. Anyway cut a long story short after a few emails and the $1000 deposit on purchase he managed to get 3/4's back which i said wasnt good enough because he didnt abbide by his own acceptions but anyway. he leart his lesson because the car was going to cost him a mint to restore.
Yes i know its not the same but just trying to give people that dont know the ins and outs of deposits.

11-11-09, 05:47 GMT+10#23 call vicroads, pay around $25 and get the full inspection report, so u can see where the car was damaged.
he may not have got the viv for it yet?
he may have just repaired it and is getting the rwc off a mechanic that doesnt know it was smashed. anyone can get a rwc for $50, its getting it registered at vicroads after that that u could get grief.
when u go to vicroads to register it, u wont be able to without a viv.
a viv costs $500, plus $xxx to fix anything that they find wrong.

11-11-09, 12:40 GMT+10#25 and the time you gotta wait for a viv is a joke...
Theres no way its rebirthed, the only time youd do a rebirth like this is if your tryna prove a point...
You wouldnt goto the trouble of finding another commo or stealing it to put clean i.d on it.
Seriously its a 5k car would you risk everything for that
With that being said forget this car existed, cut your losses and find a clean one
And quickly, the best cars to buy are ones that arnt gleeming when you look at em, things not on, abit dirty here and there..
I always walk away if a cars mint, trust me best advice i can give you mate

11-11-09, 21:35 GMT+10#28 Before you purchase a second-hand vehicle, you should check its written-off status by telephoning VicRoads on 13 11 71 with the VIN/chassis engine number and registration number (if known).
Remember, if you purchase a vehicle recorded as a statutory write-off after 1 May 2002, it cannot be registered and can only be used for parts or recycling. If a vehicle has already been repaired, before you purchase it you should check that all repair receipts are available.

12-11-09, 15:45 GMT+10#29 have a better look over the car, see if it has any signs of a big smash repair job. also check the vin plates and see if all the details match the car itself, like factory colour, trim, engine/trans and engine number if its on the VIN. if its dodgy, tell him you want it for 1k or u'll call the cops
