sounds like a fair call to me, ya shouldnt be *****ing with your tyres, if u have a blow out u know thats what they will blame it on whether it was the cause or not.

Ridgy Didge whitewalls have the white rubber moulded into them, as they do for white lettering. see this video for an idea of what I mean (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkcm3rh60p0) Sanding the sidewall down to be smooth and painting it is different. I imagine if you did it carefully and just delicately removed the lettering and mould marks it would make no difference. However, it would take just one tiny nick through the wall of the tyre, one spot where the grinder went too deep, and it would probably root it.

I was running whitewalls for about a year and never had any problems or even get a mention about it from cops when I got pulled over , if it's true I think its stupid and the ****z are doing it to *** with the modified car scene even more .

Spoke to the guy in QLD that was going to do mine if I ever got around to it. He said he's spoken to people at qld transport and others down south and they've told him it's legal, as the info is on both sides. Somebody make some phone calls, there's only one way to find out for real.

had a mate get defected for it last week(along with a few other things on) in epping, as the cop said it is not engineered for the tyre to have white walls when it came out from factory (the tye that is) and that the writing is scrubed off, which is no allowed because it is modified different to the manufacture`s specs.(also got him for having 19`s) so its a safty thing which they are right about. he also mentioned if this car was involed in accident with white walls on the tyres, the driver will be charged with driving a unroadworthy vehicle causing an accident and go to court even though it was not his fault or the tyres to blame. every cop makes/says his own rules, lol. to much laws and regulations regarding having a modifyed car in melbourne if u ask me!!! i think we should all sell our vl`s/modified cars and start driving stock corolla`s around lol.

They've definitely gone overboard. I'm sure they have a 10 year plan to effectively wipe out everything non standard.

steve you got owned lol its got nothing to do with cars the tyre for argument sake was manufactured in 2009 = fail, regardless if they want to do you for it they will just write it on the defect list just get your tyres flipped and off you go.
