many RWKW's does that rag in the intake give you?
All jokes aside nice lookin backyard set up. Did you make the manifolds yourself? and do both manifolds feed the turbo?
A customers one that should be finished by the end of the month
I will try and upload some more by the end of the month

I could have used this thread a month ago.
Here's the VH that a mate and I are building with a single turbo VH45DE.
Budget job so nothing flash in the turbo department.
May be of interest to ISLEEP.

thats f*ckin insance man keep up work guys... so basically ur looking at around 10-15k for decent setup.. how much if u doin bakyard job urself wat price's looking at?ive also has any1 got pices of the set up where the turbos r just infront of the cats near the steering rack?
If you want to do it on the cheap, and install yourself. The best quality cheaper kit would probably be an ASE one.

The singles are the cheapest. The twin mid mount is 3 K dearer. So $6500 doesn't include fuel system or tune. You will need injectors $600ish and a Walbro at minimum $150ish. A good 2 bar mafless will be anywhere up to $1000 bucks depending on time spent getting it right. Also factor in mating it up to your exhaust. another coupla hundred.
You will need valve springs but @ around $400 del from the states. So realisticly your still not getting out for under 10K
good stuff....go the vh45. i take it its a late model vh45 due to the single runner setup.
so i take it there is no space due to steering to run the exhausts ? i dont want to cut holes in the inner guards after i spent the past month of weekends working on them to get them 110%
also is he just running log manifolds ?
also i like the idea of the engine sitting so far back. im making so other custom parts to help push it right up against the firewall
ps nice plenum, just needs injectors bungs and rails, good stuff
The engine is sitting forward quite a lot actually, we couldn't get it back any further due to the rack location. If you had lots of time to fiddle then you could get the engine back another 6 inches.
Because the engine is so wide there is no room to route the exhaust out through the engine bay, even with the engine forward like it is.
I am making some very simple manifolds for it, partly because it is a budget build and partly because there is no room for complexity as the rails are right where the ports exit.
We are just making it up as we go really but it is working well apart from the rack/steering box.
The plenum is something I made as a learning experience as I had never made anything that complex with alloy before. I am waiting on some injector mounts to finish it off.
It is an early double port engine and I have used the original port flanges and welded the new runners to it. It is all very basic, no real money spent as I was just learning. No bell mouths or anything.
Here's a link to the build so far. As I said, we are making it up as we go as I don't think anyone has done a VH45 to commodore before.

HPF do it for $14,000 complete with:
1 x ECU - Flash scan reprogram - MAFLESS tune
1 x Comprehensive Twin Turbo system
1 x Air to air intercooler system
8 x High performance fuel injectors
1 x 2-bar map sensor
8 x Forced induction specific spark plugs
1 x Adaption to existing exhaust system
1 x Fuel system upgrade
1 x HPF Cold thermostat

I have, it made me hard. I reckon a f-bomb style lent to a hq coupe with

pm GMHTT.8 on these forums, he has had a tt5ltr in a vs ute, very very neat little setup, made 255rwkw on 7psi, ended up selling complete setup inc fuel system for 5k
Now is in the process of building a 383 with twin to4z/66
this was my old set up in WB ute....GT4088 on 355,6 speed...it lost a lobe off the cam and made 285rwkw on 7 cylinders.....now its getting a built LS1 GT4202 and full manual T400...
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
cheers mate...im looking forward to getting the new set up going as i only ever got to see the other one on the dyno 3 times and didnt get to drive it really at all...
