12-06-10, 16:43 GMT+10#25 Up your dates.
Just putting it back together and a couple small jobs to be done.
Got some new shet from the US for the finishing touches but im happy with how easy everythings going back together.
Good luck charm
Few bits from the US to go on, IAT Sensor, Wideband 02, Few warning lights im going to setup, switches etc, but mostly gauges / shift light in the next pics.
Got a fuel pressure gauge in there as well, didnt think it was worthy of a spot on the dash.
Intercooler pipes on & finished, only 1 join other then turbo/cooler so hopefully no blown pipes.
Screamer pipe ended up being too long but it looked cool anyway
Found a bargain nizpro style cooler on ebay so Its in the cupboard maybe if I can find a Turbo calais manual wagon it might be a nice addition.
Also did my own wiring loom for the car, first time but im happy with the results, I didnt shrink wrap it tho mostly because I wasnt confident enough but Il pull it out and make it look nice before I send it away
Also got rid of the Gteck cooler because I found another bargain on a custom core sized PWR cooler its a bit smaller then 600x300 & its bar and plate rather then tube and fin, but the FPI and the quality is alot better so hopefully the Iat sensor will let me no otherwise. Also doesnt stick out below the bar(as much), even tho I think it looks pretty cool im over the look on vls and wanna try something a bit differnt.

Hopefully mount the power steering res on the other side tomorrow, might put the radiator/fan/belts on also.
Installed a turbotech boost controller today as well.
Goto wire up the gauges & finish the dump pipe and im going to send it to a workshop to get tuned.

Yeh recognised the car, some pretty distinctive parts on it.
I haven't seen him for a while but good to see the car ended up in good hands, I'll let him know.

12-06-10, 22:30 GMT+10#27 Yeah its still got the block/gearbox interior & diff. Not a hell of alot else.
If you get in touch with him can you ask him what shop put the engine together ? I wouldn't mind knowing / talking to them about the motor itself.

12-06-10, 23:28 GMT+10#28 Yeh I can ask him but I have a feeling it was put together by a mate of his rather than a shop.

13-06-10, 12:39 GMT+10#29 Yeah sweet just find out what oil he was recommended, Dont no whether to put a 0-40 / 10-40 or maybe something thicker like HPR30 (which is what Ive put in now) theres plenty of people recommending what oil to use out there but it would be better to no what the dude who put the engine together thinks.

02-07-10, 22:48 GMT+10#30 Hey mate
Just read the thread...
This is 1 sweet ride!!!
Keep up the good work and i will be watching mate!
I have just started coming on here more as when i first joined didn't really get good comments on the vl but like i said in the thread its way of being finished! and people prob wont reconize it once its done!
The thread on it now wont be getting updated at all and will start a new thread when its nearly done or done then see what people say!
but enough of that! Your ride is sweet mate and good luck with the rest of the build!!

28-07-10, 23:01 GMT+10#32 Yeah its like when I brought the car I was on $400 a week haha, so just making the payments was enough let alone all the crap I wanted to buy for it.
I will never change my mind so much again, do it once Is my new moto!

So yeahh
Custom accelerator cable made up so eventually can stash it under the guard, Dump pipe fabricated, IAT sensor put into the intercooler pipes t/body side, basic boost controller turbotech thing installed, VS-VZ power steering resiviour mounted (fairly dodgy as I cut the bracket wrong, zip ties YEAH) and all lines made up.
Rocker covers welded & catch can welded baffled/vented thing, The hoses are temporary just made them extra long so I can move them later on,
Wiring on the plenum is just temporary, if I need to take it out for any reasons like adding extra wires its alot easier,

29-07-10, 10:54 GMT+10#34 re: your interior, I have soiled myself and am not ashamed of it. Looks so nice, not to far over the top or far removed from stock but enough to be pure sex (I like the standard Calais interior to begin with).
Had any recent dyno time with the new management and turbo setup?
