i have a vl calais and i painted the lower plastic black side skirts with two cans of $3 paint from bunnings. i rubbed it back so it was just smooth and then i gave it a first coat then rubbed back again and then put another coat and it came out nice and clean. personally its all in the preparation work before hand. i got a quote to do all the silver on my car. $450-500 almost contemplating doing it myself

when we did a mates we used 7 cans (front bar, rear bar, moulds) had it mixed up at the auto paint shop in coburg asteroid silver, did 3-4 coats but it still ended up costing him near $200 just for the paint, if the bars are prepped ready for paint your better of buying a litre or 2 of paint for next to nothing and getting someone to slap some paint on for a few hundred dollars turns out 10 times better in the long run and no head****s!
i only did the front bar
my mate done it with the $3 export can silver and it looked allright but 2/3 months it went not good but he dident even take the bars off or sanded it just sprayed it, lol ****head,
from memory your from seaford way, go see nigel at bodyshop paint supplies in seaford and get mx grey or asteroid depending on your preferance done in the upol cans, they're about $30 a can, they spray really well and the colour is great as they use a decent brand of paint in them. Then clear them in the upol clear, if prepped right will not chip off or fade, and clear has a very good gloss to it
i done my wagons front bar, and nosecone with mixed cans... coudnt tell the difference to the rest of the car, used a whole can (large type custom mix) and was great
FATPSI knows his stuff, as long as ur not stupid and u have a fair idea its easy and looks good.. if u use $3 export cans it will look like ****.. but then again ur proberbly gonna spend $200 on good materials so u may as well get it done properly..
look at pro vlt that looks hot
and the pic in my aviatar i did my fornt bar and grill in mx grey $35 can. it still looked good but im fussy so got my mate 2 2pac them in atlas grey and they looked good nice and glossy.. i payed $300 and i wasnt happy with the job coz he did coz he preped them **** and they reacted abit
