Taken from www.etstreet.com (http://www.etstreet.com) (Home of drag racing and latest with breaking news)
Speculation is rife that a rival is trying to run an event at Sandown on Easter weekend and have offered MRC more $$$ which helped lead to the termination of the permit.
Promotor of Easternats has contacted Rodney Jane to look at moving the event to Calder Park, to be held on the same weekend.
Is currently in negoiations with his legal team, talks with the government, police and MRC to retain the permit and keep the event at Sandown.
The Easternats event will happen regardless, its just a matter of where.

Very dissapointing
Springvale’s Betty Armstrong said the event, which included controlled drag racing and burnouts, caused unnecessary carbon emissions and was unlikely to reduce hooning on the streets.
I like how they publish stuff like this to get people off side.
At the end of the day it's the type of motor racing that we are into that they want to shut down. Burnouts and drag racing. Here this is the meaning of a hoon:
Hoon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/#column-one), search (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/#searchInput)
For other uses, see Hoon (disambiguation) (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/wiki/Hoon_(disambiguation)).
Hoon is a derogatory term used in Australia (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/wiki/Australia) and New Zealand (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/wiki/New_Zealand) to refer to a person who engages in loutish, anti-social behaviour. In particular, it is used to refer to one who drives in a manner which is anti-social by the standards of contemporary society, that is, fast, noisily or dangerously. Hoon activities can include speeding (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/wiki/Speed_limit), street racing (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/wiki/Street_racing), burnouts (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/wiki/Burnout_(vehicle)), doughnuts (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/wiki/Doughnut_(driving)) or screeching tyres (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/wiki/Tire).[1] (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/#cite_note-0) Those commonly identified as being involved in "hooning" or street racing are young, predominantly male although increasingly female drivers in the age range of 17 and 35 years.[2] (http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/#cite_note-1)
Now have a look look at this article:
http://www.tweednews.com.au/story/20...hooning-claim/ (http://www.tweednews.com.au/story/2009/06/27/rally-inspired-hooning-claim/)
We are obviously not "Mature" to like a sport such as drag racing
The only way I can see to overcome this issue, is to get support from the Top Fuel / Funny Car teams to get a track up and running in Melbourne, which im sure they have tried to do... Other wise us peasants with street/drag cars don't stand a chance.

Funny how it will produce 'unecessary carbon emissions'. I bet she owns a car and drives it. They're no different to any other car driving around on the streets. Therefore everyone is producing unecessary carbon emissions... OMG LETS BAN CARS ALL TOGETHER!!!@!@@

^Imagine the bad press. 'Hoons create havoc in city'
They would just tow them all, impound them, defect them and send you fines. Way pointless.
A body such as Street Machine, Street Commodores, A Politician, A member of council needs to stand up to this. Anything we do will attract negative attention and get us nowhere.
