I really didn't know that To make some use of this thread, i'll try find out the andra specs on tail shaft loop position ANDRA : all front engined, rear wheel drive sedan based vehicles with unaltered steel floors, with elapsed times quicker than 12.99 (1/4 mile)/8.30 (1/8 mile), must have a 360 degree tailshaft retainer loop constructed from minimum 3mm (1/8 inch) x 50mm (2 inches) steel strap or 22mm (7/8 inch) x 1.62mm (.065 inch) welded steel tubing, securely mounted and located within 150mm (6 inches) of the front universal joint for support of the tail shaft in event of universal joint failure. It is recommended that the loop be round to minimise loading.

I was out wsid on saturday and they are pretty strict on this rule now as a mate didnt have one and was not allowed too run with slicks. He had too put the street tyres back on still went 11.8 lol but we tried putting them on a mates cv8 manaro as it was knocking on the door of a 12 and as soon as he rolled in the staging lanes they told him too take the slicks off if he wasnt running a loop and that thing had never done a 12.99 but is what we had a winge about.I got the same as the vpw ones very easy too fit up.

Do you have to have the loop if your running a 2 piece tailshaft and 10 second passes at WSID? They didnt even check this on my car last time?

He has run there with the same setup "vortec blown 304" at least 3 times he tunes the car him self so thats the only changes being made between meetings and all of a sudden it became a big issue.before that no one ever mentioned it or said a thing. Its a built 2 piece as well not standard. There a bunch of funny guys those andra stewards but at the end of the day its for the safety of drivers so what can we say.

In the end, the loops are $50 and 1/2hr of your time. If you're building a drag car, I don't see why you wouldn't do it anyway.
