I own both skyline and vl have rb30e with 5 speed manuals. I think the biggest thing that i have noticed that is different is how smooth my skyline is when its started cold to running at red line. The skylines head was removed and cleaned up but that was it. As for the vl is currently holds 127 rwkw BUT even before i went out on the vl rb30 and it had the factory standard spec motor in it, it never ran as smooth. And to this day i stll cant figure it out. Anyway the 3kw aint anything significant at all for drag times or what not. With the gts 1 and 2 skylines they had; Agressive cams gts2 being lumpier Larger TBs gts 2 being bigger And they had piggy back ECUs to keep everything undercontrol.

I believe this is the reason why many VLs blow head gaskets, although obviously it's possible to blow any head gasket for a number of reasons i.e poor maintainance, ****ty ACL gaskets or 50 pounds of boost. From memory another difference was the injectors in the R31 were slightly smaller? (I think?)

DIN vs ECE measurements of the power.

The difference between 114kw and 117kw could be the engine tested, the dyno used, or the figure given to the public by the manufacture... they may not be any different at all!
