17-06-09, 02:28 GMT+10#21 The picture above is a JL mono block. Won't be able to play stereo, but the outputs are for a stereo amp.
And about the input voltage is usally set to low usless you have a deck that has 4volt pre outs.

17-06-09, 14:20 GMT+10#23 You can run rca's from the mono block to a 4ch amp and the 4ch amp will still be in stereo

17-06-09, 14:51 GMT+10#24 That's right. But if it's hooked up that way, there is no way to adjust the levels of the front or rear speakers while driving.
If ShaunVL has the optional remote bass controller though, he could connect it that way and will be able to adjust the sub level while driving to get it blending well with the other speakers. It's still a compromise compared to having 3 sets of deck ouputs for full adjustability.

18-06-09, 11:37 GMT+10#25 The JL mono block has a interesting setup. So if you wanted to run two or more mono block amps you can run them in series, without having split rca's.
Looks like JL have really thought about there setups!!

19-06-09, 00:17 GMT+10#26 Yeah mine came with the bass control toggle. Seems like a decent amp for the price I paid. $450 I think is pretty decent for the brand and output

Can't agree more. My type R's have a maximum watts of 1400 and they rock. Type X subs are overkill, also needing 1 PDX1.1000 to run 1 sub. My Type R subs in the VZ give you a very nice back massage. I'm running 1 PDX1.1000(max watts 2400) which work nice with 2 Type R's. Alpine Type R's FTW

19-10-09, 13:07 GMT+10#30 sounds nice guys. The type R are great speakers for the money thats for sure. I sold alot of my gear recently but like trying different setups and differnt components and always swear by Alpine for best quality and sound.
I have have collected some new gear for my VL and not sure if its a bit over the top for a VL but whatever keeps you happy I guess. Ive got 3 head units sitting here to choose from at the moment CDA9887, and some older model CDA9835 and a new in the box CDA7998R, I've got pdx amps 4.150 + 2 x pdx 1.1000 to run two type X 10's at this stage and some new MBQ's 3 way components front stage. Oh yeh Type R 6x9's too but likely to be turned right down for rear fill.
Anybody got any ideas on how to install all this into a VL. Would love to see some boot installs.
