15-06-12, 07:26 GMT+10#27 you could get one, it wouldn't be legit though. Even with engineers you still get defected.

Hi guys just looking for some info.. to build which motor is better to use a LS1 5.7ltr or a 6.0 LS2, and what is stronger, for turbo/supercharging in the future aswell. cheers guys
The LS2 - LS3 engines are apparently the strongest ones to use for forced induction because they've got thicker cylinder walls than the LS1 engine.

26-06-12, 20:13 GMT+10#29 ok looks like there are alot of opinions in this thread about it all. I went all threw this last year and was building up a 408ci turbo for my vl. My opinion to doing it all now would be to get a standard rectangle port headed engine which comes in 3 types l76,l92,l98 they all come with the same heads. I choose these over the ls1 and ls2 as they come with the cathedral port heads which dont flow no where near as much as the rectangle ported style, even a unported l76,l92,98 head will flow more then the ported ls1,ls2 in most cases. As for all the ls based engines they all have the same weak point in the alloy block once they have alot of power put through them they crack between the cylinders. So to solve this problem look into getting a cast iron 6ltr block normally called a LQ9 block. These are exactly the same as the alloy block and still retain the 6 bolt main setup. This you can put over 1000rwhp into it everyday and dont have the problem of breaking it. A mate built his engine in his torana totally standard just forged and a cast iron block,glide,cam,gt42 and this has run a 9.6 on only 8psi of boost so far. So as you can see this setup works well and the engine its self is has a stock rectangle port top end.
