Mate i really dont know on the colour, it needs a respray no matter what due to the roof and a few other areas, i may stay that colour with some small metallic flakes added in just to save having to re-do inside the doors, engine bay, etc etc.

Jesus this will keep you busy for a while, good to see your giving it a go champ! not to mention nice progress photos would be a good idea while the engine is out to go all degreaser spec on the engine bay, tidy it all up (resray what ever has faded) and replace the hoses if needed the best bit about a rebuild/make over of your calibur is you get to go over majoirty of the problems others don't get to see with all the interior, engine & transmission/gearbox etc. in the way so make sure before the engine and interior go back in there's no rust & muck build up etc. also attend to any dents or structual damage (if any) how is the quality of the suspension and brakes in the car? last but not least if I were you I'd polish up those Calais wheels and get rid of the crappy mags Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

DOHC4LIFE - The basic plan i have will be shotpeened rods down low, with all new ACL bearings, ARP bolts etc etc, 20 thou bore with ACL forged 8.5:1 pistons, go 20 thou on the head and 10 thou on the deck, thin head gasket (if i can find one around). As for the SOHC thing ill probably spend as little as i can on it and if its still **** ill go an RB25DE or T head...will cross that bridge when i get to it i guess Gavin: Yeah the engine will be getting a good degrease before it goes in, i got some really good **** from a mate who's a mechanic so yeah. The suspension has pedders shocks all round which seem to be fine, front brakes are like new, haven't had a look at the rears yet (drums). And nah mate i don't like the Calais rims much at all The ROH Mags will do me till i can afford something 17" or 18" lol. Cheers. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

wow the engine bay came up well. and your head looks good, maybe it has been recoed at one stage. any signs of new manifold studs? thats a dead giveaway that its reco. oh and the dead rb30 looks well dead! are you going to rub back all the crap behind the booster? you should consider the larger booster and master cylinder while you are at it. even if you don't repaint the bay atleast wire brush it back, rust convert it and then seal it up with some killrust spraycans

Yeah ill tidy all that up while im at it i think. The exhaust studs were actually very loose in there, and all but the very rear one was like new. When i took the manifold off the studs came out instead of the nuts, then i just had to remove the nuts (easy) and reinstall the studs which was a time consuming breeze Come to think of it you may be right on the Reco, it is very clean in there, everything but the 1 pitted rocker was like new Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Bit of an update: A few days ago i got the engine off the conrete and degreased it (powerful degreaser eats concrete). Also replaced the main bearing and seal in the dizzy and gave it all a good clean which got rid of the miss it had in the engine it was in previously. And got the box down ready to be installed and put in the new throwout bearing and gave it a test fit to make sure the clutch was aligned. By the end of the day i had the engine in, and after a couple more days tinkering i had everything installed/wired/hooked up. Gave it its first fart of life this morning, had to play with the timing a little to get it to idle and then got a mates timing light onto it and set it at 20 degrees BTDC. After that we just had to plug up some air leaks, replace the #6 injector and give everything a rough tune which got it running like a champ Only problem i have encountered so far is the eBay extractors are fairly badly mis-aligned with the standard headers lol. Gotta get a ratchet strap and oxy onto it tomorrow so i can straighten one of the bends and properly fit the exhaust. For those interested in the exhaust note, i found the system i have (can be seen in the earlier posts of this thread) coupled with a gutted cat (which i need to replace) is a bit too tinny for my liking but it has a nice note to it still Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Just some pics of it all relatively complete bar the front bumper: It definitely needs lowering in the front a little Vid of the exhaust note: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBfmUmGjmZg Had the camera a bit close but you can still get an idea, i hate the cackle after i back it off Also can anybody tell me what the squelching in the tank is? I thought it might be the lift pump but i unplugged both the connectors into the tank and it didnt help... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thanks mate, Bit of an update as to how the outsides looking lately: The interior is coming along nicely just gotta re-cover my high-rise, install all the stereo stuff i have on the way (Xplod head unit, Xplod amp, cheapy 12" sub), and get the door trims on. Will have the tires off my calais rims put onto my 5 spokes and then its pretty much time for the rego! Here is a Video of the exhaust note now that i replaced the gutted cat for a redback one out of a Soarer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWWrP0WFuL4 Got a Nismo Calsonic Muffler on the way right now so cant wait for that Another thing i need to get sorted is some main switches for the power windows, they are going for sheetloads on ebay which doesnt interest me much at all, so i dont know what to do just yet Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
