I highly doubt it was the clutches fault. From what I hear he is the clutch guru, 9 second vl still running the same clutch from the start.

Yep must of been bad luck because I have seen many of his clutches in some pretty tuff cars.

20-11-08, 23:40 GMT+10#24 well maybe hes really good at building clutch's for 'racing' cars.... and maybe the clutches dont like so much being used in street cars which are driven lots of k's EVERDAY....
U'd have to agree there is a bit of a difference between a race car that does a few passes every couple of weeks at the strip, and a car that gets driven everyday in traffic, on the highway.. etc etc.. u certainly do a ***load more shifts in the box on the street than u ever would at a drag strip..
And grant is not a retard.. he knows how to drive his own car.. he's run 11.9's @ 121mph in full weight on street radials.. not even MT's...

21-11-08, 13:15 GMT+10#25 yeah, cheers ollie. i don't doubt that he does know his **** for race cars, but as ollie said, mine isn't a race car. after speaking to various other clutch builders, his clutch was one of the big factors that contributed to my gearbox and diff saying no more. I'm not saying it was the only reason, but would have shortened their life considerably. plus he is horribly expensive for what he does.... anyway, enough of my bitching. hope it all works for your car.
that starter motor on ebay went for $80.... it's either ****ed or someone got a good deal...

my brother and my mate Noel from SAU run jim berry clutchs and noels clutch blew and destroyed the gear box and engine from destroying the flywheel and his car was a daily driver. My susjestions is if you want to drive the car on the street alot stay clear of jim but if you want a VERY good clutch for racing and that go jim berry.

05-12-08, 10:29 GMT+10#27 Guys I'm chasing a starter as well, just the non turbo manual sucker.
The cheapest price I've seen here is 320, or 360 for a reconditioned one.
What sort of prices are you guys getting quoted down there? It may be cheaper to buy one and bring it back in its own jet.
