20-11-08, 06:11 GMT+10#21 It will cost you $800 to get the Heltech tuned each time also. So as everyone has said many times before you are best off with the factory computer. The factory Delcos are very good computers, and there is no point in changing them

ok then good point i thought that if there was a map in it for my setup and say i changed the cam and put on a cooler that it would be easy to just do a few adjustments to the tune to allow for the new cam resulting in less time on the dyno =less money.so tuning after doing slight mods will cost 800 everytime sheesh expensive

20-11-08, 08:04 GMT+10#23 It may not, but good tunes take time and time = money
Like I said before the actual chip costs about $5, so where they tune the factory ECU or the aftermarket one there won't be much difference

28-11-08, 19:55 GMT+10#25 The factory Delco with chip aka Kalmaker software and tuned has been done to death and it works really well and dosent cost no way near the amount of getting another ecu wired in or E6GMX as the factory unit does alot more things behind the sence which u dont know which makes the car run more ecomoical when crusin and so on.
Stick with the factory ecu and as i see ur in NSW, the 2 best tuners are Sam's performance and Injection Perfection.
My personal dealings with Sam werent great and end result i wasent a happy customers but there has been alot of happy customers from him.
Injection perfection all i have heared is good reports.

17-03-09, 16:52 GMT+10#29 very interesting coz im putting my charger on this weekend on my stock vr 5ltr stato.vortech v1 charger comes with everything but fuel pump but not sure weather to get internal or external.and will i need a fuel reg?
go see paul at www.cveperformance.com (http://www.cveperformance.com) - he will fit a modified delco computer to your injection unit with a kalmaker rom chip and that way it can be tuned real time with live specs to a computer, there are not many tuners in melb that know how to tune a kalmaker that well and paul knows his stuff
your first initial tune is around 1000-1200 as i said before, after that it is cheap as piss around $250 -$300 each dyno tune again..or say ur fuel mixtures werent spot on all u could do is take it to paul and 2 minute problem u dont even need to pull apart the ecu, he plugs his laptop into the rs232 and boom tweaked!
with a kalmaker you can do alot of things, u wiull be surprised how much u can power u can unlock out of ur engine too.
OTHERWISE- if you decided to tune your current standard delco chip over and over each time you would be paying $1200each dyno tune.

17-03-09, 18:53 GMT+10#30 You are right about 1 thing vr stato. There are not many tuners in melb that know how to tune a kalmaker.
I'd be very careful who you get to tune your car and would only use a reputable workshop which have their own dyno in-house and have proven themselves in the past. Find a tuner who has all that and you're laughing. Either that, or tune it yourself.
