Just with subs, what is the difference in sound if i were to run two 12'' subs over one and which would you reccomend for the 300w the amp puts out

(oh and skip anything sold at supercheap auto rofl) jl do some good stuff as do clarion but i can't help but mention mtx which is what i have. you are more than welcome to have a listen its an oldy but a goody. a 45 series (450 watt peak) 12" in a ported enclosure. it pulled a best of 130.2 in my magna which i thought was pretty mad for such small amounts of power going into it (200wrms) and it certainly out performs jaycar sony and kenwood subs i have heard. also pretty cheap, even cheaper if you can make your own box. on another note repco now retails fusion which are a nz brand and do pump hard however repco only retails the base level (encounter) which aren't that crash hot. at the end of the day its all opinion get out there and test for yourself. focal splits are supposed to be THE proze winning sound quality speakers but when it came down to it i was choosing between them and a set of mb quart speakers in my price range. for the music i listen to and my sound prefference the mb quart were better despite the judges opinions. also if you do gp to a proper sound store be careful what you do! if you listen to a really good set of speakers there is no going back to run of the mill ones!

okay heres my 138dB Setup, 2 kenwood 12s, 400wrms each, 100 buks each powered by a sony kx1 or sum****, dual channel monoblock, 400 buks 6 1/2 inch powerplant fusion splits up front 500 buks, 6x9 from the new sony xplod range, has dvc, 150 buks on special Speakers powerd by a jvc 4ch, 370 buks Wiring etc, 200 Sound deadner 150 Headdeck to provide tunes, mexbt5000 bak when it was 900 buks and also an epic 160 sub controler, rrp 600 sumthn, i got for a fraction that off a good member on these forums Now the sub box was squeekn n **** ready to blow being only 12mm mdf, i did pump out 138db on the epic 160 and on my handheld meter, mic was at the mirror You might think that the subs n **** r cheap, they work for me, i seen results, and they clear as *** Also, got a 15ignch P1 rockford forgate sub if ur interestd, used it a couple times, this and the 2 12s in my boot causd my taillights to pop out and the boot lid to pop open [phone removed] if u interestd, been used for bout an hour max and after reading VLcruzns posts, mate your the biggest wanker on this forum, and i mean a bigger wanker than me

grk-wpn, what are you talking about..tail lights popping out..boot lid opening up..ra ra.. next thing you might say is a cake popped out of the glove box. man, your not even from this PLANET! if your car's tail lights are screwed and clipped in, why in the world would they pop out from base... thats ridiculous man. read over what you are typing. i think you tend to over do your posts... Ive ran a DD 15" sub ..handmade from the US, retails for over $6,000, in the boot of a small swift..hatchback, and my ****ing tail lights did not pop out. let me tell you i was running atleast 4000w to that sub.. ATLEAST! so i have no idea wtf you are on about, unelss your tail lights are kept in place with ****ing gap filler or something. because running a measly..~500w to 3 subs wont do ****. dude, honestly, its just not going to happen!

Grk-wpn, how much was your fosgate sub? Interesting setup you have, Quote: Originally Posted by SIroller i don't think hes at that level yet madwog. going to that level is great but to really appreciate sq you need to start small. you want some nice fronts and an all rounder sub that can handle lots of spl when needed + the ability to be LOUD for parties and laid back weekends. I'm probably gonna go 2 x 12inch subs and as good a pair of front splits that i can afford, im thinking alpine or similar. Dont wanna pay anything more than $300 for them. Are Jb's prices a rip off? They have this thing going where i can make a purchase over $500 and pay it off over 4 years im thinking about doing that rather than blowing $1500 straight away. My biggest purchase will probbaly be the 5channel amp for $550 im just hoping that 300w rms will be enough to power the 2 subs or would 300w be better off powering one sub?? Theres an alpine v12 mrv-1000 2 channel amp on ebay for $250 (specs- 1 x 600W @ 4 ohms bridged (14.4V - 0.3% THD) Im thinking that would be a good buy to power my subs, 600 should crank?? Anyone ever used one of these?

grkwpn u get me soo pissed off coz you think you know anything about a GOOD stereo system, you konw **** all SERIOUSLY you konw **** all you got 6x9's 6" and 4" in the parcel shelf cengiz, i read his **** 3 times and i stopped after the first line... rofl i just read "boot lid pop open" getting a DB system to be loud isnt too much hassle... getting a stereo to PERFORM WELL in SQ stages IS a hassle... airbags, with such mismatched speakers you wont get such great quality mate you will have the crossover on the sub too high to make upthe difference im only going on by what an expert has told me about my setup, 6" fronts and 12" sub

And grk-won 6x9's dont even go well with subs do they ?? to answer your question.. no dont get 6x9's if u have a sub its just...a waste of money.. i have my standard system in the bmw now that im selling With the car.. 12 inch pioneer all rounder sub in the boot, good for RNB and i can tune it down for a little more responsive trance.. i have MTX splits up front and it sounds a treat. i will say this once and once only.. the trick to GOOD QUALITY sound is to have a VERY high grade head unit, and even HIGHER GRADE amp's. you turn your amps DOWN and let your DECKK do the talking, because a deck will NOT distort.. but amps will. next thing you need is DECENT and well designed splits with atleast some efffort put into the cross overs. and a sub..well depends what music u like. if ur into trance/house, a small 10inch in ANY car is nice.. if ur into RNB and rock.. heavy metal etc.. a chunky 12inch will doo the trick Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

what ive been reading Quote: Originally Posted by MOBILE ELECTRONICS AUSTRLALIA I have always designed systems by an old rule that states your sub should be no more then 2 sizes bigger than the biggest speaker in full range set up IE if using 8s up front then 12 is 2 sizes bigger, if using 6s up front then 10s are 2 sizes bigger. This is why I dont think ppl should use 2s or 15s with 6s upfront as you dont get a smooth transition thru midbass section. I wouldnt suggest using 15s at all unless you ran 10 midbass units up front, but many ppl use 15s with 6s and are happy, but as Im into pure SQ then it doesnt work well for me. If you play for example, a double bass that slides down the bass notes, you will get an even transition with sticking to the 2 size rule, but you wont if you use a sub 3 or more sizes bigger than fronts. This is because the centre of the subs out put is too far away from where the fronts start to drop off leaving a hole. When you get it right the double bass just gets lower and you cant tell when fronts stop producing bass and sub starts. Anyway Id suggest 12s with 8s and thats what I use in my system and the transition is perfect. Angelos car was also perfect but the focals are almost 10s and being a very hi quality speaker, they blended great with the 15s, which by being in a AP set up, had ruler flat response. He might not have got it to work as well if the 15s where in a sealed or ported set up.

hmmm decisions decisions lol. I think you all haver given me enough information for me to go out and make an informed purchase Thanks everyone. I think ill still go with a 12inch, i like the idea of the smooth transition between the fronts and the subs (i am after all a bass guitar player) but i think the 10's would be lacking a bit of ooomph for my likes. Thanks again. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

(sq) sound pressure or 'doof' is very very different to sq.
