08-04-06, 21:53 GMT+10#25 anyone ever tried this with like an orbital sander or anything, to get the machining lines out i mean, or are they easy to just sand out? a good thing to do when you bare metal polish is when your done to rub a bit of crc or wd40 etc into the metal, it stops it oxidising/tarnishing as quickly. a jeweler i know told me that

11-04-06, 23:28 GMT+10#30 I bought mine from Glenfords, it is ment for a bench grinder and I was lucky enough to have the attachment laying around that was out of another polishing kit. U should be able to use a bolt, a couple of washers and a nut to do the same job. Jeffo vlt don't worry about it not looking good yet, once u use the compound and the mop it should come u nice. Just make sure u use a compound that is just for aluminium and not a general purpose sort of one as u will not get as good of finish.

any sort of polishing mop should do it man so long as you have the right compound...or if you got the patience, sand the sh*t out of the rim for 3 days like I did and then hit with autosol and it will come up immac lol but you will have a dead arm lmao

Half a day per rim, didn't think it would take that long to do but once u do one u have to do the rest cause nothin looks worse than a half finished job, oh well the results are worth it

15-04-06, 11:43 GMT+10#40 Looks good but would anyone know if you good do this sorta thing (strip the paint off and polish it up) to a new set of 18 inch silver Monaro rims.. or even just a set of VX SS 17 inch rims or anything?
Only reason i ask is because i dont really want to strip the paint off my brand new rims only to find out for some reason they cant be polished lol..
anyone know of any good reliable companies that do metal polishing in the southern suburbs of melbourne?
