Just check the fluid after fitting it and running the engine for a while, if the level is correct on the dipstick then your fine.

13-08-08, 21:31 GMT+10#25 yep, check it in park while hot. It wont take much more fluid even with a big cooler, prob 500ml.....

13-08-08, 21:59 GMT+10#27 derale tranny coolers are up there. made in usa which equals good quality and good price (with the dollar where it is atm), and have been proven in a number of high hp cars. only $120 or so from rare spares for one thats almost as big as ur radiator

14-08-08, 09:31 GMT+10#28 I run a single 11.5" B&M cooler (the largest core without a fan I think - it's bloody thick) with my transbraked C4 and I've never seen temps higher than 190F. It cruises at 4200rpm on the freeway at 165F. It is mounted right at the very front of the engine bay facing forwards though. Where you mount it makes a big difference and remember that if you're running long lines and a big cooler to check the fluid level again once you've installed it.

21-08-08, 20:53 GMT+10#29 I've got one identical too SOHC2 and it says LONG made in china instead of b&m is this normal "ie do they buy them and just sell them off as b&m.
And will this be enough for a glide with a 3500 converter with transbreak?

08-10-08, 22:24 GMT+10#34 but would it block flow to the cooler?

08-10-08, 22:34 GMT+10#35 not enough to worry about it, im running water injection anyway so it won't matter.

More important,i would have thought it would pass heat to the intercooler,as the auto fluid will run hotter than intake temps i would think ?
Also if you look at the radiator, the tranny cooler could end up a bit far away from the thermo fan to be very affective when stationary ?
The auto will love it on cruise tho ,prime position !
Nice Paint BTW, love the Blue, and are they alloy bonnet struts i see ?

May be a bit far away from thermos but I'll test it out, see what kind of temps we get with it and if it's too much I'll get a thermo for the tranny cooler.

09-10-08, 08:19 GMT+10#39 It looks like the heat exchanger unit off the back of a fridge Bradley.
Boom I wouldn't worry too much about the flow of air through that cooler. That's a Plazmaman cooler and even with it covered like that it will still outflow and outcool the cheap, Chinese intercoolers used on 99% of VLTs on the road.
Brad are you running the transmission lines through the radiator and then through the trans cooler as well? I know Stoney did this on his ute and it seemed to work very well

09-10-08, 08:29 GMT+10#40 Nah, keas advise against it incase the radiator cracks and you get water in the transmission. It's a very expensive box so I want to look after it.
