whoever said statos are slow needs to line C4PRCE up out on the street lol car has a blown 355 and makes a tad over 400rwkw. doesnt get hassled by the cops at all. cant say a setup like that is cheap but i guess if you wanna go fast you gotta pay the $$$$
that thing is nuts, it could be u just got a dud 5L ive been in some stockers that dont move then there are some that are freaks just depends on how theyve been treated/maintained
would'nt bother with the t/b most strokers or blown 5L still run the standard t/b, go 4.11's i had them in mine for a year makes a big difference, people will say u loose top end but when do really need it on the street anyway
one way to get a few kws without spending a cent is to "modify the cat" lol its highly illegal but worth the risk makes a big difference
the cats don do **** these motors are low comp motors the more back pressure u take out by "modifying your cat " the more power u loose i got done for no cats at all dynod before the cats were put in then dynoed when i had the hi flow cats put in i picked up power after the cats were put in and the standard holden cats flow pretty well anyway

Really? I gained 13rwkw by removing a cat in a very mild 304
mate of mine has a VS senator (185i) motor......... he got the follwing done :
a head and cam package done (not sure on specs)
3.9 lsd
stage 2 shift kit
injectors
2.5 exhuast
tune
only made 162 rwkw....... which i thought was piss poor! lol

stock the vs senator is 185kw at the flywheel, u dont lose that much from the fly to the wheel, (stock) u probly pull 162rwkw with no mods. If your mate had that stuff done and thats all it put out, he got shafted.
Not every 304 are gonna perform the same, some have been well maintained, the others have been thrashed, .....u dont have to blow big $$$ to make them perform, in this case its each to there own i guess.

Wonder how a stock RB30T in an auto low geared 1600KG car would pull any way also think about a small stall converter, nothing too big say 2500-2800 this should get things going better off the line. Its amazing what a stally, short diff gears and minor engine/zorst mods can do. Think hard about a shift kit, for the first few weeks you'll love the firmer shifts but after a while you'll get real sick of it, plus it increases wear and tear on the box and diff. Remember it takes stuff all to go from a 16sec car down to 14's, then onviously the quicker you want to go the harder (and more expensive) it will become. IMHO a 14sec street car is fine, leave the 10 sec machine to the strip

dont let the kw at the wheels fool you.. it dosnt always matter about the actual power because fact number 1 is getting the power to the ground.. you can have a 350 rwkw vn with a blown 355, then you can get a 290 rwkw 355 vn with more suspension, gearbox, diff ratio and will maul it simply because it gets power more efficiently to the ground..
my mate had a vq with a small small cam and had a shift kit and i cant remember what diff gears.. this thing with the two of us would ****ing maul, r32, r33 skyline turbos.. vn'ss, vs'ss, even the early gen 3's..
their not slags depending whats cars their in.. put an rb30e in a vp or vs stato and see how hard it ****ing goes..
a car my cousin built that is now owned by a good mate of mine rips gen 3's, ba xr8's, s15's, skylines and the occasional vlt no probs, its a vn ss with shot peened rods, flat top pistons, raised compression, 4.11's and a baby stall spins his 19s off the mark easy as, it goes good, its not an animal its just set up nicely
u might have bought a lemon, there is some cars out there like that.
I've done my exhaust, suspension, converted a T5 5spd manual and got it custom chipped to suit my mods,
and it flies, will flog any unopened 5ltr , and pulls up even, if not abit better than a stock 5.7ltr, my brother inlaw has a VY SS and my stato with these mods beets him from take off to about 150/160 and then he catches me back up and goes past me top end. but ya cant beet them all , but still worth a go

Also like other have mentioned its mostly in the set up, everything has to work together ie cam, heads, intake, carb/ ecu + injectors, extractors, zorst etc etc the list goes on. You get some bone heads that chuck in the biggest cam and leave everything else then wonder why they lose power and why the car runs like a pig. Its always good to base your mods on the cam you choose since the cam is the mechanical "brains" of the engine. This doesnt have to be done but will give better results. This is why cam cards usually state to suit mods like suitable compression ratio, diff gears, stall etc etc

your not wrong there mate.. and thats why half the ****s dont realise.. they recon by putting in a 268 crane cam their gonna beat everything and have the quickest car..

sounds good the twin turbo set up...would like to see that...also is the common that the brakes are a bit crap in the statos?
