Open your eyes to the big wide world man. As much as I love VL's they are pretty shit cars. In fact I'll go as far as saying any car that comes out of Australia or the States is shit. And just remember, this is my daily driver, it'll go to 300,000kms without anything failing... I'm not sure you could say the same about a VL
Guys the black rims are only temporary until I get insurance sorted to replace the rims I farked

I wasn't gonna full the place up with my opinion on the rims, but since everyone else has I will I reckon either the Rials or the black ones with the polished lip look best. Don't you have the original rims to put on it as a temporary measure? Or do you just not do standard wheels?

Pretty nice rims for temporarys I reckon. The black/white/black works well.
You'll probably get flamed for your "VLs are sh1t" comment, but you aint wrong. Just like everyone else on this forum, I've got a soft spot for them - hell I'm spending enough $$ rebuilding mine! I could have bought something that handled and went fast from factory (mmmm...evo 6.5) but where's the fun in that?
As for everything Aussie being sh1t...sure their materials aren't on par with some of the Euros, but you can't beat the bang for buck they offer - and who keeps a car for 300,000k anyway? If I won lotto this Saturday, come Sunday morning I'd be banging on the door of my local HSV dealer, then driving my spanking new GTS to the nearest workshop, dropping some coilovers in it, and a decent exhaust and I'd be fcuking happy! Better go buy a ticket...

I know they are pretty bad, but I'm not exactly rich and I wouldn't be comfortable driving anything else! That and anything else I would consider I can't afford/would drink more petrol.

Sold the original rims a few years ago when we got the car. The company wanted the money to go towards my new rims... Your right though, I just don't do standard rims

Mate I'm the same as you, I love Holden's, why else would have built the VL I did? It's just people come on here saying they are the end all and that everything else is shit, when clearly that isn't the case. For example the japs had things like IRS, climate control in the 80s... up till a few years ago Holden still had a 4sp automatic and a few years before that a live rear axle
As soon as I can afford it I'll be down at my local HSV dealer ordering a new white GTS, then down the road for coilovers, supercharger and black rims
A mate of mine has a VE Senator. It went back to the dealer 11 times in the first 3 months... that's the sort of crap I am talking about with Holdens

It may not be the main issue but i still feel it warrented some comment
Im the prodical son, that why i get to opionate when its not asked for
But if he buys a white hsv with black rims i will have the bloody thing painted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
On the topic of holdens all or nothing..i have to agree with alex. Mines been the worst thing ive ever owned compaired to whats out there. I love them to pieces but theres a lot more than a vl ........i know......i siad it.
Its fun i enjoy it but i also like the creature comforts of whats available today, suppose im just getting old

Yeah I've heard a few horror stories about peoples problems with E series HSVs. I reckon you should insist on one built any day but Friday afternoon! Seeing as the GTS comes with the MRC, and you will be binning this setup in favour of coilovers, wouldn't you be better off buying an R8? Saves you around 14k, sure you miss out on leather and 20s, but leather is overrated and I'm sure the dealer will cut you a deal on the GTS alloys. I saw the photoshopped GTS you had in another thread. Looked fcuking horn. I also saw a white one with the vented bonnet, that looked bloody good too!
Nothing wrong with live rear axles! They're still good enough for the new Mustang! (Fords take on this is that they are better for drag racing - which is what a lot of the owners do apparently!!) Oh, and I believe Omega still comes with that POS 4 speed slusher!
