I had no idea people adjusted their coilovers so often. Only adjusted the missus' once in a year. Looks like i'll be going with 255s then, although not quite sure I can stretch to Contis, probably be goin with Eagle F1s at this stage. Seeing all these mean VLs is good motivation for me to get mine going! Just makes me jealous Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Quote: Calais3L, is that your 2L?! I couldn't even think of spending money like that on mine. Thats it, i spend a good 1-2 hours a day in that car so i prefer to keep it nice, slowly getting up to an acceptable standard, a lot of it (wheels, tyres, steering wheel, boss kit, stereo) are things that ive had off other cars + junk ive accumulated, I mainly upgraded the wheels/tyres, Brakes and suspension for the safety aspect as well as roadholding, i do a lot of open road driving, one side effect is that it improves the look of the car too, plus its all reverseable, so i can transfer to another car. Got my eyes on a Royale.

Got my eyes on a Royale. It looks bloody straight. Those are 18" wheels right? And what brakes did you put in it? Hmm, I want superlows to replace my lows, seen some dobi super lows for a wagon on trademe for $275 new. Should look into shocks aswell though.

Its got the odd ding/scrape, and its about 4 different colors, but looks okay, nah they are 16's, Biggest wheel and tyre combo available ex-factory for a VL, 16's are a good size for a VL, no issues with incorrect speedo, rubbing, suspension geometry etc, and the ride is (just) okay because of the 50 series rubber. Nothing major in the brakes just new discs and police pads, going to sort out the rears this weekend. New shocks would be a good idea, the struts in that were completely shagged, ive got shortened GT Gas Monroes in the back and a GT Gas Cartridge in the front, personally id spent the extra coin and put something a bit better in the front, the Monroes have way too much compression dampening, It needs a bit more compliance in the front to combat small bumps mid corner at high speed.

The invoice was a full page of parts and 40 hours labour to put all the parts together and in the car, so I have no idea how much just for the coilovers because so many components went into it Rhys has seen the invoice, it's not just 4x shocks and 4x springs + $150 installation

Reviving a bit of an old thread I know, still trying to work out which springs I should buy. You speak to people who stock different brands and they all tell you theirs are the greatest. Shop I spoke to today said they wont stock Kings as they've had too many issues with them. Its just a bloody minefield - who do you believe? calais3L - your height looks about bang on for what I want - how do you find the Dobis? 12maneym - why did you mix and match brands?

Take your car down to Stocks (down the drive past the office to the warehouse) and ask for a guy called Edgar. He builds suspension for race cars and will give you some good advice STOCKS Head Office 8 Te Apunga Place Mt Wellington Auckland New Zealand Not many suspension shops know what they are talking about when it comes to performance setups from my experience

I've heard good things about Stocks, can't take the car there - its got no motor and its at my parents place in Cambridge! But I will go and have a chat to them. I just don't wanna buy crap. Oh and I don't have enough $ for coilovers! Calais3L- when I said "how do you find the Dobis" I meant what are they like to drive on?!

Quote: Calais3L- when I said "how do you find the Dobis" I meant what are they like to drive on?! D'oh! Sorry, havnt been with it for a couple of days, they are firm! a different front shock would help, GT Gas have FAR too much compression dampening, The rears are spot on, but the front lacks a little compliance, im on 50 series rubber and to be honest with that setup i wouldnt want any less than that.
