I have been busy as fark trying to organise transport so i can get to work and back, had to visit the dentist, renew my forkhoist license, complete the insurance papers, get a Justice of the Peace to sign my 'alcohol and drug decleration' and try to sort out my new position at my job. Yay, fun times... NOT! Anyway, i have gone with insurance in the end - i just didn't know what was broken or twisted or farked on the car and it was going to be safer and better in the long run to go through insurance. At least all the work will be under waranty. The only problem is the car was only just moved from the tow yard yesterday. I have been farking around with the insurance company for almost a week and a half. I rang them last Tuesday morning to tell them and had filled out the claim form and sent it off last Thursday morning. Then they tell me i hadn't completed it because i hadn't filled out the 'drug and alcohol decleration' and got a JP to sign it. I pointed out that it only said to complete that section if asked by the insurance company to do so - long story short they claimed they asked me to but no one did. I said 'if you asked me to fill it out then I would have done it, why would i fark around and delay the process anymore than i had to" Anyways it is finally underway - only problem is they can't track down a V8 cross member anywhere. I told them there were some on trademe but the company doing the suspension work said the insurance company wasnt that much of a fan of going through trademe - personally i don't care as long as i get one quickly cos i really want my farken car back!!! On another note; My car was finally added to the reader's rides section of the site. The link can be found in my signature! Thanks for the support guys... i will keep you posted as things progress... slowly! Cheers, J

UPDATE TIME: Well there is fark all to update actually. It has been sitting at the suspension place since last friday - when the insurance company finally got their act together and accepted my claim. They have been trying to source a VL V8 cross member (K-Frame for you Aussie's). Although i was quite sure it had a VK cross member, engine and steering rack and i told them that during the first phone call i had with them. However they proceeded to get the VL one anyway, fair enough i guess being that it is a VL body. It had to come from down country and took from the Friday until the Tuesday afternoon/Wednesday morning to turn up. They then ring me and inform me that my rack wouldn't bolt up to the VL cross member - The mounting points are in different places. Hmmmm the suspension shop says and upon me calling them i find out that they are extremely confused and are unaware of their next move. So they then call heaps of people and ask them what is going on. First they suspect it isn't a VL cross memeber that they were given - so they set about getting some other wreckers and sh!t to measure their racks and X members and get back to them. After they get even more confused they then decide perhaps they can change the mounting points on the X member to match the rack and 'bob's your uncle'. I said why don't you just source a VL steering rack and bolt that on and send my car to the panel shop. But all i get is i don't know if the rack is the same or if it'll clear the extractors etc etc. That was Wednesdays effort. I did some investigating last night on Calaisturbo and various other places and i find out that VB-VK V8 cross memebers are all the same and VL-VR V8 cross members are all the same. I also learn that the steering racks obviously only fit the certain x members. I also learn that the 6 and 8 steering racks are the same and that the VN rack has some pipes in a different position and therefore allows more clearence for extractors etc. So i ring them this morning and tell them to get the VN rack from a wrecker 5 mins away from their shop and put it all back together and my car can go to the panel shop. But after another day of excuses and farking about i call them and the guy i was dealing with has gone home for the day but the other guy i spoke to said... and i quote "looks like it was an earlier model cross memeber and rack in there, probably VK or something" WHAT WAS THE FIRST FARKEN THING I SAID DURING THE FIRST PHONE CALL!! Average effort by them, by the wreckers they were using (at this stage i wont name them) and various other sources. It just pisses me off that they wouldn't listen to me - the guy that basically built the car up and instead take the word of useless people at the wreckers and sh!t over mine! AARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!! Although i wasn't 100% certain the x member was from a VK i was quite sure and all they would of had to do was measure the rack mounts on a VK item and then they would have known... but no one wanted a to know abou it! Also one wrecker told me that the earlier cross members were spaced closer together, not further apart as it would not seem they actually are. I can only assume the suspension place was also mis-informed! So basically now as i understand it there is a VK cross member on its way over to them to be fitted tomorrow and hopefully my car can finally get to the panel shop. It has been 3 weeks and i'm so over not having a car and even more over not being able to drive mine. I just hope nothing else goes wrong... And i will be very near suicide if it turns out the rack is damaged and needs replacing also! What a ramble that was but i just had to get it off my chest... sorry for dragging it out but you guys all know what its like when you can't drive YOUR car... or even a car for that matter. Look at the time, I'm off to bed. Catch ya, Jason
