You can spend a certain amount getting it to run 9's but then u need to maintain it, and that will prob cost just as much. This is the thing most people dont realise, just because it runs 9's and uv spent X ammount, doesnt mean things wont break cos they do and will break.

Id say about 60k for a low 9 second car and 40k for a high 9. Theres a big difference between 400rwkw and 500+.

45 grand not including the car for me. 75% of that into the motor, rest into other areas (trans, diff, suspension, brakes). Plus i did a bit of the work myself so saved some $$ there.
Hoping for mid to high 9's.

Might be cheaper but it will always been known as someone elses car youll always get people oh thats the old blah blah. personelly id rather build my own so that its known as your car not someone elses.
Then the other factor people have left out do you want a 9 second vl that looks **** or you want show looking one with nice paint wheels interior etc.. everything adds up.

Another good point, Its only money lol.
Seriously, as long as you have the neccesities in life such as a house and clothes on your back and food to eat, then what else are you going to spend your money on, if its not "wasted' on a car it'l most likely be wasted on other crap

this thread was made because me and eren were having a convo about how much money SHWWGn has spent on the car to run a 9 , which it hasent yet.. i think he has spent about 60-70k on it and that hes not leing about the price where eren thinks it takes alot less e.g 30=40k to crack a 9.. but in SHWWGN's case alot of other factors come into play.

there are ways around it to save money.
2 major players would be
1. doing about 90% of the work yourself
2. doing it right the first time (eg, fully forged bottom end from the start, insane tranny, some freakish diff.)
im currently building a high comp setup to run mid 9s, will let you guyz know in roughly 8months to a year on how much it cost
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

80k will get you high to mid 8s. half that for 9s and over 100k for 7s

very good point man.
itll maybe cost one person 70g because he seems to not know what he wants etc and gets ripped.
and maybe 30g for someone coz he did his homework, took his time etc.
but yeh what progmh said is correct

That's right.
Some places ream ya while others dont. Some people can get parts cheap, while others can't.
Honestly, some of the prices being thrown around is like "**** me you have been reamed", but if that's how much some places charge, then so be it.

$40K spent on the driveline to run 9s? That's steep.
Unless you mean all up on the entire car........paint/body, interior, wheels etc. Which if it is, seems reasonable.
