How much are the adapter rings for the conversion?

If you have upgraded to the VT discs & calipers or Nissan 4 spots, then yes that would be all you need to get good pedal feel. You can either use the adapter from RBS or modify the pushrod as described above. Looks like the adapter is, as suspected, to space the master cyl out off the booster to avoid having to modify the pushrod. Good to know its available as not everyone wants to mess around modifying components. With this adapter the whole thing would end up being a bolt up job!

So VT master cyl and brake booster is necessary when using the VT front brake upgrade. What I plan to do in the future is run skyline 4 pot calipers on the front and 2 pot on the rear. Would a VS booster mated to a VT master cylinder work well or would it work even better with the VT booster? Thanks

The VT booster/master conversion has become really popular amongst the VT brake conversion or the big brake conversion guys/girls as it does give you a greater pedal feel and was also used on a car that raced at Phillip Island and again with great results. The VS booster is also a popular cost effective choice but is a plastic bodied single diapragm set up and the spacer is needed to fit the larger bodied master cylinder. With excessive heat the plastic boosters will eventually crack which has happened but is more common on the fords that run the plastic boosters. The VT booster is a metal bodied double diapragm booster and has a higher output than the VS single one hence making a stronger and powerfull option. The VH512 booster which is generally the std double dia booster fitted to the pre VS cars also has more power output than the VS plastic one and can be modified to take a VT master but looks a bit ugly as it also uses a large spacer as well as the mounting stud modification.

Just finished fitting the race brakes master/booster upgrade, Im just about to go for a road test, but the pedal at idle is already far better than what it has ever had. Easy as conversion aswell, really is straight bolt up. As with the plastic booster and a second hand master, I have all the gear except the spacer on my garage floor, I was going to use that, then I though its brakes, and the race brakes kit is all new products, not second hand from the wreckers. Ill let you know how it goes on the road though. Also Matt from Race Brakes Sydney really knows his stuff, fantastic guy to deal with aswell, apart from when he sent some brake fluid, took me near on half an hour to open the packaging!

Thought I should mention that the adaptors that the article says are required to convert the flare nuts at the master cylinder are no longer available from cebco. I have spent some time going through numerous catalogues with the kind people at ABS in Keswick and it seems that nothing is available. In the end I just purchased some lengths of pipe and bent up some new lines. I used my old lines as templates and then returned my newly bent lines to ABS to have the correct flare nuts fitted.
