Problem starting my VL GTS!!!!

Well mine just says "34 Detonation sensor (turbo models)" so that's what i was going by so out of curiousity, should it read as faulty or is there actually a knock sensor? Not just the circuit for it in the ECU?
Could this maybe explain the flat spots?
