seriously there isnt much difference between a sl/exec and a bt1, a calais interior light! WOW!!!! people with sl/exec's wish they could afford a calais.... but when your put model, you should have put the hdt/hsv ones too, aero, walky, director and the rest.... i also think if you removed the bt1 there wont be many extra people liking the sl... calais all the way

I like all the VL luxury levels, but the Calais stands above all, from that list anyway. Add the HDT and HSV cars and it's a different ballgame.

calais without a doubt they just look so much more slick n classy althought sl's n berlinas have the tough look about them n look like they'll just eat watevas ahead of them

nuthing beats a calais the front end is by far the best but rear tailights are also very nice. Also nice comfy interior and the luxury extras top it off nicely. it still depends on how the car has been done up cos there are plenty of sl/bt1 out there that look just as good But from factory calais all way

There is a 5 times bigger difference between S1 and S2 Calais' than there is between SLs and BT1s, so why didn't S1 and S2 Calais' get their own catagories? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Care to elaborate? I can only think of the interior ie: seats, door trims, glovebox and centre console pads. Roof lining? Not being smart, just curious. I have a series 1 and want to know what else is different. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have a seris 1 and want to know what else is different. Seats Door trims Interior colours Instruments Glove box Center console Door handles Automatic shift mechanism etc etc don't want to waste time thinking (not my strong point) as i don't wish to participate in an argument. Many of these are what i would call "large" differences (the interior especially). The SL does differ from the BT1 in many ways although most are incredibly minor by comparison ie interior light, map pockets, ash tray front and the option of yellow. It would cost all of $200 to convert an SL Turbo to BT1 turbo "spec" if the SL had the optioned air con and power steer, it would cost far more to convert a S1 Calais Turbo to Series 2 Calais Turbo. Don't get me wrong, i love BT1s (Especially white with grey bumpers...) and appreciate the value behind them, however the real world differences don't add up to alot. PS I've owned a Calais, an SL and a BT1 and although Calais are far nicer i do believe that the majority of Calais Turbos aren't worthy of being compared with say a well built Berlina like Darrens or an immaculately presented BT1 like Russ'... It's about the quality of the car not the level of spec... and high quality VLs are few and far between.

I would much prefer to have to extras like electric windown, mirrors, sunroof (if your lucky, calais front with HDT grill, calais rear end. You picking a particular car and comparing it to a standard calais. what about this, HSV interior, MASS power, sexy, the complete package. Or do you think this would be better as a berlina ? ..... much MUCH sexier than ANY BT1 - SL or Berlina .... my 2 cents anyway http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...g/rajabcar.jpg (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee156/psiwog/rajabcar.jpg) does anyone know why the pic isnt showing up ??

i like calaiss. morning blue for colour, maderia (red for interior and the walky 304 for engine. although i am not sure all of those combined would be the best... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the majority of differences between the S1 calais interior and S2 interior is a few things wrapped in velour, a bit of stitching pattern differences and a few buttons plus different dash faces thats about it not biased towards anything just only noticed this

i put my vote for calais... but only because theres no walkinshaw... how can you have a "favourite model" thread and not include 1/2 of the models they made, i mean i would understand if you didnt include the bt1 only having sl berlina and calais, but if your going to that specific then please include the sexiest of all the vls, like the walky. and the dictator... yummy. i also like the standard front, but the calais looks better, sl<calais<walky

Simple as that. I got a great deal of satisfaction building up my SL from having no options, to having power steer, exhaust/extractors, fixed all the leaks, grey executive interior, stereo, etc. And I still continue to get that enjoyment by building up my Berlina in a much bigger way (automatic to manual, n/a to turbo, rebuilt Calais front, massive rust repair, etc). Some people love the underdog factor, and love starting with nothing to turn it into something great. Lets be honest - you have to respect someone who has the patience to turn a series 1 SL into a series 2 Calais, with every little detail. Thats it - I'm leaving work. No more hanging back to get decent CT access speed. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
