if you get a run in the colour then its kinda stuffed, if its in the clear, then you can sand it out and then buff it and it will be as if it were never there, thats based on the assumption the car is met gold.... if its just a solid colour, and no metallic or clear, then you can sand it and buff and it will be sweet. painting an engine bay isnt that dissimmilar to painting the outside of a car, its all pretty much the same process when it comes to both prep and paint application, except there is a bit more prep with the bay and you have to wash/prepsol it better. probly no need for a tech article as there are plenty of how to paint threads which can be applied to whatever you paint, whether it be a bonnet, and engine bay or a bumper...

To anyone thats planning on doing this...I wouldnt get too carried away stripping to metal around the headlights etc, not going to see any of that once its back together...if I was you, as I did the first time I did mine, take a bit of extra time to knock down all the raised lumps in the inner guards and fill or knock up the low sections...youll kick yourself sooner than later if you just leave these.....whats a few extra days when youve already spent weeks already...LoL.

well i took my manifolds off and i couldnt resist doing a bit of tidy up work what started as just wanting to do some touch up paint turned into wanting to removed the battery tray which then turned into a full smooth job lol... started last weekend and will continue working on it until next weekend and ill have a go at painting it in 2pac myself. and yes this is the first time ive attempted this kinda thing lol, but i can paint alright from graffiti. i rekn if youve got the time, space and the patience you should give it a go! Heres a few progress pics of how mines comming along, progress has since halted for exams but will be getting back into it from the 14th. Biggest thing i can stress to anyone about to do this is that you need to make it perfect the first time! dont rush it!, there are areas of my bay i have to go back over because of this! Again, Dont rush the process lol! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i done mine a while ago now. the worst part would of been getting it back to bare metal.. ill definatly be sand blasting my new cars bay in the next few weeks and will put progress pics of that up. this is my effort on my old car. before: and the outcome : i will be spraying my next car in the same color, allthough doing the whole car this time. will get a thread up once it begins. it realy helps to paint at around 27 degrees or a a nice sunny day and when u put the first coat of paint on dont worrie if the colour dosent cover completely frist go this is where people stuff up a bit let the first coat sit for like 5mins that way the first coat has more bite and you wont end up with more of a chance of geting big sags or runs. medum coats all the way is the go and if ur realy confident u can do a "double header" on ur last coat witch is laying one coat down then going sraight over it with another coat witch if done right u cant to get it to flow out a little more or u can complely stuff it up and make it run. theres a tip if it helps.
