For those thinking about the solonoid idea for opening the bonnet (and if you DO actually care about keeping the car legal) - check it out first, as i think theres something in the ADR's about the bonnet having to be able to be opened manually. In case you crash and the electrics go dead, the fire dept can open the bonnet. (same thing with door handles - must be a mechanical way of opening all doors so if you crash and the electrics go, the survivors can still open the doors and escape - or rescuers can open the doors to drag you out) Good idea though if you want to do it - maybe keep a backup manual release somewhere else on the car and have the button in the cabin. I would have thought it wouldnt have been too hard to run it behind the guard - might have to find a cable a bit longer though - theres gotta be another car that can give a donor cable thats long enough (or have the cable extended???)

you can run it under the guard without extending it, drill a whole behind the drivers side headlight under the rad support and run it in there and straight into the radiator support panel (actually inside it) and then out near the middle and to the release pin. all in all you will be able to see about 4 inches of the cable. this is the best pic ive got atm, you can juuuust see it. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i just used a heavy duty after market release cable...besides if there is a fire or an accident most of the times you would be with the car so you would pop it straight away prior to the proper authorites turning up. If you had an accident (front end) they would just get a jimmy bar or h/d tin snips to open the bonnet if need be. Also they just cant give you a EPA for the heck of it they would need to witness it....if that were the way then they would fine anyone they saw down the street and send the fine in the mail!!

i love threads bout hidding **** in bays! lol i rekn everyone should have a crack i know its a VH and is poo compared to the one above but i drilled a hole near the corner of the footweel behind the guard and ran mine behind the guard and up behind the headlight as suggested above. pretty simple mod and makes things bit cleaner! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
